That's if you go through all proper channels, not if you're relying on a physical glance.
They're not just glancing at it. They're scanning it through a machine that basically pulls up your boarding pass info. They can tell if you're pre-check or not just by scanning your ID and taking a photo that's running facial recognition to match you up.
In theory you're correct. However, I cannot tell you how many times I've had an agent who didn't even have a machine with which to scan. It was actually just a glance. No scans of the pass, no cameras for facial rec. Sure, a large airport like in NJ would have all that tech, but many places do not or they may have it and not use it 100%.

We're specifically speaking about the US and new systems that have rolled out in the past year or so. I don't even think they're at all airports here yet.
I would only be shocked if someone got attacked by a 3.5 oz. bottle of Clinique tinted moisturizer because TSA is ON LIKE DONKEY KONG whenever I forget it in my carryon bag.
At least with Delta, there are some airports domestically that now have something called Digital ID. I think I have to opt in yet or something because I was traveling with coworkers and 3 of them had Digital ID show up on their boarding pass, but 2 of us didn't. This was at LGA. I think LGA, Atlanta and some other hubs have it.
MSP often has a K9 patrol(?) that you have to walk by in the general boarding security line. I feel safer when the dog is there because its likely doing a better job than the humans.
To get through life and travel without losing my mind I need to simultaneously believe that TSA has security on lock and that they're overreaching assholes engaged in security theater and infringing on my civil rights.
I will not be taking any questions about this position.

I was speaking to us only although my personal experience is at least a year old. My point was that while sneaking through with a fake pass isn't at all easy it conceivably could happen because I'm guessing implantation both in equipment and training is far from standard and universal.

I know the nail scissors that remain in my travel toiletries bag for a decade were suddenly going to making a menacing appearance. Same with the 150ml conditioner that got stuck hidden at the bottom of the bag for at least 5 flights.

Yes. Given America’s love affair with firearms, I’m sure we’d have gun related incidents in airports an on planes all the time without any screening.
Just for funsies one of these days I am going to experiment and try to go thru security without a security document, ID only. I work for an airline and when I fly I am not issued a real boarding pass until I get to the gate. The airline gives us a pass that will clear security but doesn't necessarily mean you will get on the flight (standby). They only ever look at my security document if I am traveling with my minor child.

I’ve had little to no reception for a few days and just learned about this. I always use Newark Airport when flying. But, this didn’t happen past TSA. Anyone can enter the airport arrival areas where luggage carousels are and pickups happen. That’s where this happened.

Oooooh, well thanks for shooting down this entire thread.

Ok I’m glad this is confirmed as this is what I assumed as I mentioned in my post on page 1 but I read multiple articles and it definitely wasn’t 100% clear. But reading that he was homeless and just got out of prison plus no mention of TSA in articles it didn’t seem like this person had the capability to easily get past TSA security theater and all.
