Now that I’m not trembling under a rock anymore, I’m looking for some political podcast recommendations. I’ve been listening to Political Gabfest, NPR Politics, and occasionally Stay Tuned With Preet. What else should I add to my lineup?
Check out Pantsuit Politics. Both hosts are (were?) lawyers. One has always been a very left Democrat. One used to be a conservative Republican. They have great conversations with a lot of room for nuance and discussion. I don’t listen often, but have really enjoyed several episodes.

Ditto- I listen to every episode. They have a patreon and various episode types (morning news brief, deep dives, SCOTUS)
Ezra Klein touches quite a bit on politics & culture issues, but I really like his interviews & range of opinions. His critiques of the democratic party and liberal policies are enlightening in looking at how/where we can do better.
The Daily from NYT is a good - they do an in-depth look at one topic a day, usually 20 min (less on 1.5x speed).
If you want series, I can't recommend Scene on Radio (from NPR) enough. The older ones are a few years old, but long, engaging series on whiteness, masculinity, democracy, and the latest is on the history of capitalism. sceneonradio.org/ These are good "filler" when I go on long trips or run out of books!
Another suggestion that is politics-adjacent is Sharon McMahon’s (@sharonsaysso) podcast Here’s Where It Gets Interesting. She’s able to land some really cool interviews! (Including one with Kamala Harris back in the spring!)
She just wrapped up a fascinating 7-part series on Stalin and has several other fascinating short series, including one on former First Ladies.
I used to love Majority 54 but have taken a step back from politics in the last couple of years. We live in a very red area and they made meaningful points that I could utilize when speaking to others about my views.

I still listen to many of the Crooked Media podcasts sometimes. They have a new one hosted by Stacey Abrams. Also Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway, which isn't exclusively about politics but touches on it a lot.

I've been listening to Assembly Required (the new Crooked one by Stacey Abrams) and it's delightful. She talks to her 18yo niece who lives with her to get different perspectives.
I also like Hysteria with Alyssa Mastromonaco and Erin Ryan.
I am a Pantsuit Politics mega fangirl. I feel like Sarah and Beth are my BFFs. Listening to them always helps me process and calm TF down. I am on patreon so get all the daily content too.

Podcast is their FT job now but yes both practiced law before. They were sorority sisters in undergrad.

I love that they come to the table with different backgrounds and at times differing opinions, but there is always respect for each other. Never arguing, never put downs or dismissals. Clear takes from different angles.
