“James Earl “Chip” Carter III said in an interview with The Washington Post that his father spent days watching all of the speeches from the Democratic National Convention last month that he recorded for him. “He thought Michelle Obama was the best, and he thought Kamala was great, too,” he said.”
This is a lovely article, but have some tissues ready: WaPo gift link
I can't read the article but the few lines I saw says his 100th birthday is in early October. When is the earliest he can cast his vote?
If he's in Georgia, then I think it's October 15th.
He is and those motherfuckers better make it easy on him. The polling place should be in his goddamned living room. He's a national treasure.
I met him once years ago through an org I'm involved with. He has a serious presence. I was so starstruck. He is a true example of a servant-leader. I adore him.

The article mentioned he’d be voting using a mail-in ballot.
I’m curious though, what happens if someone votes early, then passes away before Election Day? Does their vote still count? I can see the Magats being up in arms if Carter voted early for Kamala, then died before Election Day, and demanding his ballot to be ripped up.

Well seeing as we don't have any laws regarding felons running for president, did we think far enough ahead for a protocol in response to this scenario?

Georgia doesn't have an explicit law about it (other states do)
According to National Conference of state Legislatures "As a practical matter, it is hard to retrieve ballots from people who have died between casting their votes and Election Day. Once the absentee ballot has been verified and removed from the envelope for counting, the ballot cannot be retraced to the voter." That makes sense to me

Basically some state expressly allow it, some expressly prohibit it, and some may not have explicit rules about it.
But from the article:

Catching a ballot, then, is only possible when it is still in its return envelope, and only in cases where election officials have received notice of the death.

I reallllllly don’t want to put this out there into the universe but I cannot believe we are talking about him approaching his 100th birthday given the year he has had. Protect him at all costs!
Interesting about the absentee ballots of voters who then die before the election. I searched for Ohio, where this could become a ripe issue for my family, and it seems as long as it’s properly cast when the person was alive, it counts. (So hypothetically sending in a death certificate wouldn’t matter.) I believe my dad got his in the mail last week but I don’t know that he’s returned it yet. www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/11/02/what-happens-if-absentee-voter-dies-before-election-day-ohio/6122503002/

Doesn’t matter when he casts his vote. He needs to be alive on Election Day or his vote will be invalidated.
This is actually one of the claims that TFG made in 2020 in Georgia. One of his claims was that there was voter fraud because the Dems used the identities of a bunch of deceased people to cast votes. Turns out there were only 8. They were all alive on the day they sent in their absentee ballots but died prior to the election. They also all voted for him. So he invalidated 8 of his own votes.
ETA: Sorry, I was wrong. Just googled. This was actually in Illinois, but it was still Trump voters who were invalidated.

I said it before but I really believe he's hanging on in hopes of seeing VP Harris elected.

Illinois has a statute expressly addressing this though. Georgia law is silent on the issue.

He is the only President that I think has done even more good outside of the presidency than he did it it. He’s an incredible human.
