I had a very productive day. I did my laundry, picked out my clothes for my work trip, got groceries, cleaned my bathroom and the kids' bathroom, and vacuumed and mopped the main floor. I also finished the remaining two performance check-ins I needed to get done before I leave tomorrow.
Tomorrow I have to make a quick trip to Aldi, finalize packing, and then make taco meat before I need to leave for the airport around 3:30. I'm going to make the taco meat to help DH a bit since Monday evening will be a bit hectic.

I am livid about a situation at work. And then I’m required to make a 15-20 slide PowerPoint about supporting student mental health and my own mental health. Maybe, not requiring busywork like this would benefit my mental health? And making that ppt when I am so upset about how my own children experience school is …. Not great.
Renn Faire was awesome! I’m exhausted. Sitting with my feet up all evening.
Awhile back, I asked for book charity suggestions or a funeral donation . I ended up going with Reading is Fundamental. My friend sent me a thank you today along with a picture of the card they sent. The special message was “Maybe name spirit live on in book!” (Exactly, not even ‘s.)
Maybe? Maybe?! Maybe only works with “Maybe name’s spirit *will* live on.” But I’m 99% sure I meant to type “May name’s spirit live on.”

Lucy and H are at the Pearl Jam show tonight, so I’m home with my boys. We’re all doing our own thing- David (9) is playing on his VR, Joey (2.5) is tearing up the living room, and I’m figuring out how to play Pink Pony Club on his mini piano. #stillpunkAF

H and I are considering a hot tub at our house. If you own one, can you tell me about it? How much work is it to maintain? How many people is ideal for seating? Are you happy you own one or was it a waste?
The new sectional came with 9 decorative pillows and it may be overkill.
We got a new living room set in June. I was so excited to get pillows to match. I got 5 for the couch, two for the love seat, one for the recliner. It’s 8 too many. My son has them all over the place and not on the location intended. Today I caught him chewing on the tassels of the 5th for the couch. Never mind that he has chew necklaces and sensory tags.

My husband loves ours. He sits in it every morning to loosen up his back. However, I don't particularly like to be hot. Like ever. Or if it's cold outside, being hot and then freezing when I get out. So I don't use it very often. This diminishes my husband's love for it.
I think Ive had my aunt over once and a couple girlfriends once to sit in it. But it's just kind of a weird thing to sit around and do. lol ours has 6 seats. I wouldn't have more than 4 at a time though.
not difficult to maintain. Just some chemicals every once in awhile. I will say the highlight was draining it mid-summer when it was super hot outside and refilling leaving the heater off. it stayed around 82-85 and was perfect.

I love our hot tub so much. I’m actually in it right now! It’s not much work at all, though there is a learning curve when you’re first figuring out how to keep the water balanced. I drain and scrub it every 3-4 months, which takes a couple hours, then just dump chlorine and baking soda in to keep it sanitized and at the right ph. I use it at least once a week year round, my H doesn’t like to use it in the summer but will go in with me in the winter, especially after a big workout. It technically seats 6, but probably really only 4 comfortably, and is too big for us. We have never had friends or family in it, but if that was our thing it would probably be a good size.
I’m very excited that I found a pair of white canvas sneakers at Aldi today for $4.99! DH has become a big fan of Aldi and I like going with him to find random stuff (well, and cheap groceries). Today was a success. Now, to build an outfit around them for an upcoming charity event with a sports theme…
I think I may look into a regular pest service with our termite company.
Normally we spray twice a year and don’t have any issues.
I just saw a huge centipede in the garage on top of other not fun bugs last couple weeks. I guess I’ll be spraying again tomorrow.
centipedes are freaky creepy looking, so I get the squeamish reaction, but they're your friends! They feed on other pests including roaches and silverfish.

I once rented a house with one. It was Hawaii, but we still found it enjoyable (it does get cool enough there especially at night in winter). But mx was not provided.
I was the only one in the house if 4 adults who has any concept of balancing the water because I grew up watching dad do it with the pool, and others were from places like Maine and Alaska. It was still a struggle to keep it correct, and I drained it more than once to start over.
I think it was 8 person, and we did often have guests.

My parents have one and my mom does all the chemicals, which don’t take that long. Maybe like 15 minutes once a week, and draining/ cleaning / refilling a couple times a year. You can hire a pool person to come do it all, and I know a lady that only services hot tubs. It doesn’t get much use though, kind of out of sight, out of mind like exercise equipment can be. I love going in it, but even when I visit we don’t use it much. It was actually indoors in a fully enclosed sunroom in their old house and they used it more then, maybe due to the novelty of it being new or having built a whole additional room to house it. They didn’t have the right electrical at their current house and took a very long time to get that fixed to set it up. It has 6 seats but sits 4 comfortably. Random, but State fairs are a great place to go see all the hottubs and buy one.
We are at the beach this weekend. It's only in the 70s so no swimming, but I love this temperature in general so I'm totally fine with that. We spent a few hours reading on the beach yesterday, went out for a couple of meals, and watched college football at a bar. Today I am sitting on the deck reading and we ordered breakfast to get delivered (just Panera nothing exciting). We will go to the boardwalk later.
I wouldn't mind going back to the actual beach, but it is bright sun today so I'm not sure my skin can handle it. I can see the water from the deck so this may be only slightly less pleasant and I can sit in the shade! We will see though, I may end up just covering up and going down there anyway after breakfast.

We went to Greenday last night. It was so good but I am SOOOO tired.
Why does my body hate sleep as I get older? I got in bed at midnight and was tired but my brain decided to be anxious about random work stuff. Then I woke up to pee. Then I woke up at 5 am and couldn't fall back asleep. So I got a total of 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Now I remember that I can't deal with staying up late and I won't go to another concert for a year or 5. And I didn't even drink! Drinking also messes up my sleep

I had the most wholesome experience today in a place I wasn't expecting it.
In that time between a flight landing and the seatbelt sign going off (often before) and before the cabin doors are open and people start leaving, there's often a mad dash to crowd the aisle and go nowhere no matter how short the flight.
Today, the women in front of me, leapt into the aisle and started pulling down bags from the bins, handing them to people in her row and in front and behind. I thought they were traveling together initially. But it quickly was clear she was just doing this to be healpful, and everyone was smiling and laughing.
She said it was her duty to help out because she's tall. I'm 5'6" and this woman, probably in her late 50s, the granny type that passes you while hiking and gives encouragment of "just a little further" and she was an inch, maybe 2 shorter than I. But, yes, in this part of the world, that does make us pretty tall, definitely taller than anyone she helped. Often women barely come up to my shoulders.
It just so pleasant in a realm where pleasantry is often not in great supply.
wildrice, are you in OCMD by chance? My parents are heading there today!
We had a nice day yesterday. DS's first soccer game was in the morning. He did well and seems to be understanding the game more this year. He has a great coach this year which is probably why. The rest have been sort of mediocre and not very instructional.
We went to wedding in the afternoon. It was at a gorgeous outdoor venue and it felt really nice and fallish outside. They had BBQ pulled pork, smoked macaroni and cheese, and a baked potato bar for the meal and it was delicious. H was the designated driver for the 4 of us who went, but in solidarity I didn't want to drink too much, plus we had an hour drive home so I just had a few High Noons and am glad I didn't overdo it. Unlike my friend who was with us who hiccuped the entire hour drive home and I was worried he was maybe going to puke lol. All good, though.
I have to go pick up DS and then this afternoon we're going to a seafood boil at a friend's house. I cannot wait.

I am! It's a great time to be here - much less crowded and the weather is gorgeous. It was overcast yesterday but great temperature, and today is beautiful! I hope they have fun.
Sick DS(8) developed a fever yesterday. Thankfully he's still sleeping and it's after 7am. Even I slept until almost 7am which I hardly ever do. I'm 98% sure he'll be home from school tomorrow so H and I need to figure out who will stay home with him. It's a really bad time for me to be out because I'm testing students all day and very few subs know how to do that (for obvious reasons).
ETA: DS woke up and the fever broke overnight so that's good. Hopefully it doesn't pop back up later in the day.

Just ordered some sweatshirts and sweatpants on Old Navy since they’re having a sale and I like their sweatshirts. I wear them almost every day I WFH in the winter.
But why is almost every sweatshirt cropped? It’s winter time. I don’t want my belly out. And I hate having to layer stuff under a crew neck sweatshirt. I like just being able to throw on one piece.

I don’t know, but I am having similar issues. I’m thinking maybe hormones? Perimenopause? I’m going to talk to my doc, because I need more than 6 hours a night. I’m kind of dying. Lol

We are melting in San Diego. It's going to be 96 today and I wouldn't be surprised if we break 100, because the past few days have been warmer than forecast.
We don't have central ac so 9yo slept in our room last night where we have a portable ac. 15 yo had one set up in her room. Our downstairs is currently 83 🫠

We love our hot tub. It is a salt water system, depending on our usage I test the chlorine level and pH once or twice a week and shock it. Because it's a salt water setup we usually only change the water about every 9 months, it really stays nice and clean without needing to add too much extra chemicals most of the time. We try to change out the filter monthly. Try lol. We haven't been using it as often this summer but we typically get in there 4-6 times a week, all year long. We got a misting fan from Lowe's this year to make it more comfortable on the hot days. And I love the contrast in the winter of the cold air and the hot water. In theory it has 6 seats but we've never had more than 3 of us in there.
