Who is watching on Tuesday? I’m trying to decide if I want to cause possible irreparable trauma to myself by hearing his voice or read other people’s in-the-moment reactions and watch the important stuff (i.e. Harris only) later.

I’ll be watching I’m pretty sure. I’m so nervous. Not in the same way I was with Biden, but everything just feels so high stakes. I’m really hoping for a you can’t handle the truth moment from him. I hope the moderators are able to fact check at least a little bit.

This is where I've been for years. I was quickly the same way with w, that I couldn't stand to hear his voice for any amount of time. Mango menace is a million times worse

I also cannot handle his voice and am still furious about how he hovered behind Hillary Clinton. I think Harris would shut that shit down, but it creeps me out thinking about it. His gish gallop method of “debate” is so frustrating and it’s enraged me reading about it so I just don’t think I can handle it live.

Even though the mics will be muted, I guarantee it won't shut him up (apparently this contributed to some of Biden s seeming distraction). So, I hope Harris will use at least some of her response time to say you can't here it, but he just said...

Question about the muting. Will it be muted at the source or at the output? As in, might there be raw recorded audio we don't hear in the live sitting but can be accessed later? I wouldn't put it past him to start calling her names only she can hear, and I want proof if she calls in on it.

Not quite a watch party, but one friend is coming over to watch. Younger guy, historian and recent citizen, this is his first election (and he became a citizen to vote against trump, has had a green card for 20 years). So it should be fun. We don’t drink, so no shots.

I was trying to come up with some themed snack. I think the best (this was planned short notice and I won’t be home until 7pm) I can do is Indian for dinner and Cheetos for snacks. Anyone got a suggestion?

This is an excellent idea. The sound of his voice elicits a physical reaction from me, so the idea of sitting and listening to him is….not appealing.

Jamaican food also utilizes lots of coconut.

You could probably do a quick coconut curry with some peas and rice. Or get some frozen Jamaican beef patties from Costco (do they still sell those?)

I am sure I'll see a zillion clips of the highlights on Tiktok or elsewhere afterward anyway.

Yeah, my H refuses to watch or listen to anything with Trump in it, ever. He even mutes the TV every single time the Trump commercials come on. So if I watch, it'll be me alone.

I'll be watching and can't wait. I can't stand seeing Trump's face or hearing his voice, but I'm SO ready to watch him fumble and flail as our future President gets under his skin (because you know she will!) It's crazy to me they've never met in person before, but I guess it really doesn't surprise me since he was pouting too much to attend the inauguration.

David does. So, I want to be a good sport. I think I'm a little nervous because of how fast things went downhill after the last one. And I know it's a totally different situation but my irrational mind takes over at times like this and it's best for me to bury my head in the sand for a bit. I did this for most of the 2020 election.

We didn't have power for this debate because of Hurricane Michael so we listened via the wind-up emergency radio. After about 20 minutes, I told MH that there is no way I was going to continue winding the crank to listen to that asshole so I just read the recap.  I hate his voice and what he says so much.
