I paused halfway through to walk dogs with my neighbour. Both of our dumb dumbs decided to run through a burr bush so we spent the next hour combing them out.
Trump sounds like he takes all of his stories from Facebook rant and rave pages and believes them as gospel truth. Like a lot of elderly people I know...
Kamala just played T. Swift in her follow up message to those in PA…dead
MSNBC (Jen Psaki) called it out even further..the song she played included these lyrics..the shade is…my goodness..
“I'm so sick of running as fast as I can Wondering if I'd get there quicker If I was a man And I'm so sick of them coming at me again 'Cause if I was a man Then I'd be the man I'd be the man I'd be the man”

I may be missing something, but I don't see the handshake as 'forced' by Kamala as much as initiated. I just rewatched it and she clearly walks right to him to shake his hand, and he's walking toward his podium. But, he seemed to do it willingly. I had missed it live and thought it would be more dramatic based on what I was reading. That being said, I do think Kamala initiating the handshake did set the tone for the debate and showed her as strong and fully in control.

I was typing fast and used the best word I could in the moment. He was definitely trying to avoid her and she entered HIS space, which is good. He is a master at invading other people’s space and she pushed the issue and set the tone right off the bat. She made him shake hands with her, which he had no intention of doing and I think it was fucking amazing.

Gotcha! I agree, she totally set the tone. It showed her strength and dignity. She was Presidential

I mean, IMO it was forced in the sense that he either would have had to refuse or walk away…the word “force” doesn’t necessarily mean a negative thing given his action and lack of respect to shake hands in the first place.
As much as he sounds like an idiot and she is giving good answers...it feels like it doesn't matter. It seems like people who want to vote for him don't care what he says. Who is this even for?
I definitely feel like there are people who might see the juxtaposition of his insanity and her intelligence and at least stay home instead of voting for him on election day.
I think the opposite. They'll hear his confidence and bluster and lies and thinkg "yeah, he makes some good points" even though they're absolutely not based in any reality or data.
There were times I wanted to hurl ketchup in his face when I also had to think that, yeah, this will work on a lot of people. I even have a close friend, intelligent person, who's repeated the "she just turned black" bullshit try to argue at me. The insidious nature of his lies go so far, so deep, and it's terrifying

To me it seemed like he wasn’t expecting it. He was walking to the podium and then had to stop to greet her. She got in his space lol
"It was a frustrating debate, as the moderators interfered too often with gotcha moments even as they refused to press Harris.
It was a Bizzaro world. Ukraine has the right to territorial integrity, but our border is wide open. People are too poor to take a bus to another state for an abortion, but the economy is strong.
But the counterfactuals were most bothersome.
What would Putin be doing if Trump were President? he was, and Putin did nothing; Hamas did nothing while Trump was in office.
The gimmicky stuff is a $50,000 tax credit for new businesses when 67% will not survive five years and more would never qualify.
But more than anything else, the moderators did not hold Harris's feet were not held to the fire on the flip flops.
There were times when Trump should have pursued her blatantly phony answers and not taken the bait on stuff that happened years ago (I like when he said, "That's old news," but it was after he had spent too much time on it). From an economic point of view, I'm more concerned about Big government picking winners and losers, crowding out private capital, and ultimately dimming out animal spirits."

I'm happy to see the most major media is calling it like it was- she had a great debate & he had a meltdown...
Apparently he wnet into the spin room himself after the debate & caused chaos...
Axios- Her aid tweeted "that was fun, let's do it again"
Former President Trump, talking live to Fox News' Sean Hannity in the post-debate spin room, didn't give a direct answer about accepting the challenge.
"The reason you do a second debate is if you lose, and they lost," Trump said. "But I'll think about it."
I’m wondering if there are stats out there about how much an endorsement like this will help. Pre 2016 I gave zero Fs which celeb endorsed who. Since 2016 a celeb endorsement for Trump makes me stop supporting that celeb, not sway me to vote for Trump.
ETA - I am not one to stan celebrities though, so that might make a difference?

Seriously, Harris really gave a Master Class in how to debate a narcissist last night. The way she wove in little digs that she knew would send him off the rails, while still answering the questions was absolutely fucking brilliant.
I do honestly wish the moderators had been a little more...moderate. Not that I didn't enjoy hearing them call him out on his BS, and I think the true fact checking was appropriate, but I knew the right would start crying about an unfair debate.

I think celebrity endorsements can increase excitement and encourage voter turnout. It won’t sway anyone from Trump to Harris, but it might sway them TO the polls. When I looked last night on Instagram, her post had been up less than 1 hour and had 3.1 million likes. That’s more eyes on support for Harris than most TV commercials that they pay big money for. (And Swift’s endorsement was filled with lots of positive things about Harris and reasons FOR her support, not attacks on Trump, which I think is great, too.)
As far as his closing statements: He seems to think that Harris should have all kinds of power to change everything as Vice President. How much power/control is he planning to give to Vance? Same for Trump supporters…what do they expect Vance to do in office? (Sit around and only do anything if Trump dies in office.) Why do they expect her to be responsible for everything and yet will want Vance to just fall in line? (Yes, I know these answers.)
