is there any evidence this is Trump supporters or related to the false allegations about immigrants eating pets? The article only says bomb threats were called into Springfield schools, not by whom or any motivation.
Sorry, I only posted the new news article and motive isn’t mentioned there. I believe the mayor explicitly said previously that it was a far-right Republican (which I would argue is the same as a Trump supporter) and that the threats were motivated by the amplifying of the conspiracy theory. amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/sep/13/springfield-ohio-bomb-threat

the NYT daily podcast was about this issue this morning & it was so heartbreaking. First, Haitian immigrants have already been through so much. This town really needed workers & these immigrant has special humanitarian visas that allowed them to work, so they were flocking to this particular city & building a community. Many people in the city were supportive, but then a few started freaking out b/c rental housing prices were going up, the community medical center was crowded, and schools needed ESL teachers. There was a bus crash that killed a child caused by an immigrant, and that all just set off this flurry of hatred & racism. They had audio clips about some things people were saying at these town hall meetings & screaming at their elected officials... people are truly unhinged and vile.
