All I can think about is all the waste. The person that goes 3 times a day, are they using a reusable cup? I know there is controversy about banning straws but I just think about all the single use items for all this madness.
But I’m not a regular coffee or soda drinker so this is something I don’t "get."
I recall Starbucks said not too long ago that they will make your drink in your reusable cup. I don't know if they are still doing that.
Yeah they will…however majority of those who partake in this trend don’t have reusable cups…or they seemingly forgot their Stanley at home.
The only way I ever customize a drink is by lessening the pumps of sugar syrup. I'll get a fun coffee out maybe every few weeks. We have a local shop that always has seasonal lattes and I had a pumpkin cheesecake iced latte the other day w/ half the sugar, and it was delicious. I don't understand why they only sell them in 24 oz cups though. I don't need all that. I often drink half of it and toss it, or share it with H.
I've seen a few starbucks openly promoting that you can ask for half sugar. I wonder if that's a regional trend or if it's a worldwide initiative.

At Starbucks if you customize an iced coffee - by adding shots of espresso, pumps of syrup, cold foam, etc - you can use 100 stars to get it for free, instead of 200 stars which a “handcrafted” drink would cost. That’s a TikTok truck I wish would die.

lust2hart, I looked at their app just to make sure I wasn't exaggerating which I do sometimes, lol. It's 24 oz though. Hot lattes are 20 oz. What happened to a small size?!

that is pretty big, but I would assume probably at least 2/3 of the cup is ice so not as much liquid as you'd think!
It's funny how we feel self conscious about our drink choices at work. I tend to feel more awkward walking in with a fancy drink because I feel like it's just showing my privilege that I can just casually pick up a $6 drink on my way in. I'd probably feel less like I stood out if I rolled in with a convenience store diet coke.
Huh. My office has a soda machine that is free for anyone in the building. Also, fancy sparkling water, and coffee (drip, with some syrup varieties) for free. We can use our own cups or they have disposable ones.
For a while, during Covid, we were only allowed to use single-use disposable cups, but they softened on that quite a while ago.
It's a rare day that I bring a drink _in_ to work. I will admit to often topping off my arnold palmer at the soda machine before I walk out the door to come home...

How nice, but oh my gosh reusable cups were not allowed? Crazy times.

I think this was fairly common. Your lips touch the outside which then touches the lever.

Stealing from your employer?!?! Just kidding. I would love this setup!
Apparently the gym at work has a seltzer machine but I haven’t gotten my badge enabled to enter because I peloton at home but I really should do that because seltzer is my jam.

Yup, this is why.
We are part of an essential industry, and a chunk of the work we do can't be done from home. At one point, they had some of our folks working three shifts around the clock, with staggered arrival/departure/break times to reduce how many folks were in the building at any given time and how many folks might congregate at a time. All to reduce how much covid spread at the office. Having to use a disposable cup felt like a drop in the bucket compared to the disposable masks and other products used during covid.

Oh I get it. Just crazy times that I am so thankful are behind us. (also essential.)

I usually only customize to lessen the sweetness too. The pumpkin cold brew was just a bit too much. My fav is the vanilla sweet cream cold brew, not too sweet or calorie heavy.
