North Carolina's GOP gubernatorial candidate, Mark Robinson, defied calls to drop out after CNN reported that he had posted a series of offensive messages on a porn-focused message board, including one in which he called himself a "black NAZI."

Gonna be mildly annoyed if trans porn takes him down and not his comments endorsing killing political rivals.
The deadline is tonight to withdraw, ballots go out tomorrow in NC. His opponent is ahead by quite a bit so hopefully that holds, this dude is beyond fringe.

Or his hard-line stance on abortions (despite parading his wife on TV to talk about the abortion she had 30 years ago, with his child), his plan to decimate public schools, or his hatred for LGBTQ folks.

It's in line with the transphobic idea that trans identities are only about sex and sexualization and therefore inappropriate to acknowledge around kids.
I live in SC close to NC so get all the TV political NC ads. I am surprised THIS is what is making national news about him when there are so many videos of him saying insane things on abortion, some people just need killing, his daycare with all the violations etc. The political ads against him stand out to me more than any ever have.
I know nothing about this guy so I googled him and came across this article from CNN. It states that he has said he supports reinstating slavery…. What?! That would be atrocious if anyone said it but as a black man it’s extra troublesome

He is horrible. It is well known that he is horrible. I did not really see anything that surprised me yesterday. Of course the NCGOP is standing by him. That’s who they are.
He is potentially the main reason Roy Cooper dropped out of the VP race. Cooper knew he could not let Robinson have that much time in charge.
I have not seen anyone calling for him to step done from his current position (Lt Gov). He is definitely an embarrassment to the state of NC.

If reporting is correct: BREAKING: Senior adviser, campaign manager, finance director and deputy campaign manager have all resigned from the Mark Robinson campaign. Their positions will be replaced.

I live in NC and I already saw a Harris ad tying Trump to Robinson. It went back and forth between Robinson's out there statements and then Trump saying how Robinson is the best guy. It ended with Trump and Robinson--both bad for NC.

TBH I’m confused about how this even happened. Don’t major political parties try to, I dunno, VET THEIR CANDIDATES? This isn’t a race for local school board. This is a race for governor! Of a swing state! Why did no one bring this up when he was deciding to run? How did they either not know this, or think they were gonna keep it quiet?

Considering they let Matt Gaetz and George Santos run and win, apparently they do not.

He's already lieutenant governor and NOT stepping down...that's what's bonkers!

There are virtually no calls for him to step down.

That’s just…insane to me. I cannot. I physically cannot.
I think everyone's more focused on the election, especially since the Lieutenant Governor doesn't do anything when the governor is in the state. He has certain powers, but they aren't really applicable right now.
Hopefully his batshit-craziness will keep him from agreeing to drop out of the race.
It’s too late for him to drop out and be replaced by another R candidate. The deadline was last week I think. Ballots had to be reprinted once already to remove RFK, Jr and they’re going out like today. So, yeah.

The GOP has no control of the Republicans down ballot. (Or at the top of the ballot for that matter.) Democratic pressure basically got a sitting President to step back, but every knew Mark Robinson was a POS before he even ran in the primary (he’s the Lt Gov!) and he won the GOP primary by something like 40 points.
