I got COVID a few days before my vaccine appointment. I have had a low-grade fever for seven days, could barely get out of bed on day 2, and after going up and down stairs twice today(day 7), I was gasping for breath and truly thought I was going to faint. It is so much worse than the first time I had it, which was a mild sore throat and some tiredness. I think I’m going to go to urgent care for a chest x-ray tomorrow.
In other words, don’t delay the vaccine because your past experience with Covid was mild!

Update: I woke up with chills, fever, and body aches last night and have a headache this morning. Arm isn’t too bad, though. Usually it’s more sore, so I’ll take that as a win.
Last year, I remember a couple people (not here) saying they *couldn’t* get their booster until 90 days after having Covid.I thought I read that it’s ok to delay up to 90 days after Covid, but not that you had to wait to get it. I had Covid 3 weeks ago and we are traveling in 3.5 weeks. I like to time the shot at about 2-3 weeks before winter travel. H got his yesterday. I’m getting flu early next week. Trying to decide if Covid, too or wait a bit on that (time for December trip)
Just to update. I meant to ask my doctor at my appointment, forgot, and sent her a message afterward. Explained that I had international trips in October and December, so my plan was to just get flu now and get Covid just before the December trip, and did that sound reasonable.
She replied that it was an excellent plan. So she one upped my “reasonable” and I guess I hit exactly what she would have recommended lol

Aww that sucks! I was hoping novavax would have less side effects. I’m planning to get it in a few weeks. At least that supports my plan to wait until we have a few weekend to rest after.

It hit me harder than expected. I was also hoping for fewer side effects, but it’s tracking the way the other vaccines have for me. Of course, I did get it with the flu shot, so I’m sure that is a factor too. I usually feel better about 36 hours after, so I should be fine by tonight.
I'm at 24 hours and feel fine! First time ever. Love Novavax. Now my arms are both sore but I did a walk and power yoga. I am used to 2-3 days of feeling like garbage. My body most does not like Moderna and Phizer. I'm not complaining though, it kept me healthy
I feel great, not at all like I usually do the day after. However, I do have a giant purple bruise at the injection site, so I’m monitoring that.
sorry about the bruise but hell yes to the feeling good!

I've now called 5 hospitals and nothing. These are not podunk rural. They're destination medical tourism hospitals considered some of the best in the asean. Sigh.
At least I have found where to get my flu shot. That also isn't easy to find.
MH and I got flu and COVID shots yesterday. We wanted to get NovaVax, but when they grabbed the box of vaccines, it showed they were expired.
However, the side effects were much milder than previous years, so I'm pretty happy. Just a sore arms, some chills, and a little lightheaded. Previous years I was up all night with fever/chills and miserable for a solid 24 hours.
I got my flu shot but I'm so hesitant to get the Covid booster. It always completely knocks me out and I feel miserable for ~36 hours. Actual Covid was less disruptive. I'm glad to hear people are feeling milder side effects.
Will get flu and novavax this week. Hoping it doesn't wipe me out like pfizer did.
The CVS website was great in getting to choose. I did not see that option with walmart (where I got all other covid shots).
Thank you all for the novavax recommendation! I'm 18 hours out from both shots and feel great! Just sore arm spots. It is also possible my reaction changed due to having covid 2 years ago a few weeks after my last booster.
Funny CVS story. They were so busy (I went after work). They had gotten the novavax that day and they were marked as expiring this month (so in 22 days). I'll be shocked if they use them up.
