I gave up and found a 9x12 indoor/outdoor rug with a more indoor rug type pattern and bought that for our living room. I didn’t buy a ruggable bc it won’t fit in our washing machine.
We take it outside and power wash it once or twice a year on a sunny day. It still looks brand new. I can’t remember exactly how long we’ve had it but at least 5 years.
The one caveat is that it isn’t cushy and I have to vacuum it in 2 directions to get the dog hair totally out. I have a rechargeable stick style vacuum downstairs, ymmv if you have a regular one.
We have a wool rug in our living room now and it's held up nicely. It does shed like crazy though. I've had it at least 3 years and possibly longer. Still tons of shedding but it still looks good. I don't get it lol.
This is a more unusual style but we've also had it for many years and it still looks good and is so soft on your feet. Annoying to vacuuming when the dog leaves treat crumbs in it. It gets daily use/abuse.

I have 2 generic ruggables, one from Amazon and one from Walmart, and they are great!! I'm going to buy another for my bedroom.
Anyhow, they are extremely affordable and since it's a flatter type of rug, they also spot clean nicely. I also have 2 dogs and if they have an accident it doesn't tend to soak in. I use folex and they always look perfect after.
As for washing, I have a pretty big washer and my 8 x 10 rugs will fit. Then I air-dry on my back porch or the bannister if its not nice out. I think fitting a 9 x 12 would be tricky and may require a Laundromat.
It is a bit of a pain to move furniture to wash them but I love knowing they are totally clean. I end up washing mine about 3 times/year.
They aren't a soft/fluffy rug but as long as I have pets I will have washable rugs.
I have a Loloi Hathaway rug in my living room. I bought it after seeing 3 in my SIL's house and how well they stood up to kids and dogs. It is a completely flat weave so no matting. It is incredibly easy to clean, super easy to vacuum (I have a Golden Retriever who sheds like it's a full time job). Even though it's flat it's soft underfoot. I added a rug pad to help with it shifting out of place and it's even cushier. I have a wool rug in my bedroom that I love the look of and it has held up beautifully, but omg the shedding. Between the dog and one 8x10 carpet, I have to empty the vacuum canister after every vacuum. If it ever wears out I will replace it with another Hathaway.
I paid a lot more for my Hathaway rug in Canada, but it looks like there are 9x12 options for $200 on American Amazon?? I'm a little jealous.

I have Loloi rugs as well, one in the living room, one in the bedroom. I look for the "cloud pile". Like heygrey said, they are completely flat but soft underfoot. Easy to vacuum. They are a printed fabric not a weave. More expensive rugs will be weaved which is most good wool rugs. I have a nice Anthropologie wool rug under my dining room which is harder to keep clean due to the varying heights in the pattern. I have a jute rug at the front door that the cats love to scratch and it was cheap so I don't care.
I think in most cases with rugs you kind of get what you pay for, but the higher-end ones definitely get super expensive. An old wool, hand-knotted rug is supposed to last like forever. Otherwise probably a new wool rug and/or you can get bound carpet in something like a stain-resistant nylon.
The super cheap rugs are probably not going to last well in a busy area.
