She is home, she is home. Thank you for all your suggestions. She came home through Atlanta. Right now, we are just waiting to see what the next 2/3 days bring us. Her college is truly in a little donut hole that avoided major damage - the problem is the surrounding areas. We don't want to take away from the local resources either - if she flies in and needs to find a ride (gas at this point along the route from Asheville/Cullowhee) is sparse. Cash only for limited fast food, etc. I truly believe her college will have no classes through Fall break (10/19). My heart breaks for the surrounding areas. She has one professor that has not checked in and is so worried. We fared so much better than most and I am truly grateful. I will be checking out Greenville as she has friends all around that would be willing to help - I am just uneasy asking right now. As time and clarity on the situation focuses, we can make the best decision.

I’m just dumping my sadness here. The stories and videos that continue to come out are awful and overwhelming. And they just keep coming. My social media is full, and I mean FULL, of donation drives and go fund me’s for this person’s friend, that person’s son, etc. I want to help them all. Then I feel guilty for being overwhelmed from the comfort of my undamaged home.
Several friends have come down to ATL from WNC to stock up on supplies for themselves and neighbors & friends and to spend a few days of respite here (and do laundry...and enjoy the AC). It's been wonderful to see their generosity and be able to contribute some goods myself directly to people they know need it (ie my friend delivers it to the person that has the need-not through a 3rd party). People really are good at heart...

If anyone has a Tide Dry Cleaners near them this is a great time to bring clothes in decent condition that you or your kids have outgrown. They show up after national disasters with giant laundry trucks so people can do some laundry and distribute the donated clothes.
