In Canada we have paid parental leave through our federal Employment Insurance (Unemployment) program. The burden should not be on US employers to pay for this, it should be a government program. Some Canadian employers top up employees for a certain amount of time which is a nice bonus, but parental leave is not dependent on on your employer.
I hate this smarmy asshole. I hope a sinkhole opens up and drags him under a melting iceberg. I hope his necktie gets wrapped in a billionaire’s paper shredder. I hope he gets shot in the kneecaps with an AR 15 in front of the NRA convention while all the good guys with guns piss their pants. I hope his house is washed away in a 100-year-flood that only affects his house. I hope his skin rots from a disease that can’t be cured because all the research funding got cut. I hope every day of his life he is forced to interact with an immigrant, woman, or POC who he knows deep down is vastly superior to him. I hope his hair gel bursts into flames because it was made in an unregulated factory by a worker who forgot the safety checks because she doesn’t have a union to protect her from working 18-hour shifts. I hope Trump turns his hoards against him and he has to live in an abandoned Appalachian coal mine surrounded by people who know he stepped on them on the way to Yale. I hope he wanders the streets getting pelted by garbage being thrown by grandmas and grandpas who don’t want to babysit. I hope karma comes for him and his eyeliner and his bloated orange running mate.

I'll further clarify my previous comment about PE that a lot of people don't recognize:
@@@@
Pregnancy was considered a pre-existing condition prior to ACA, especially if you weren't on a group enrollment, and often had to be purchased with a maternity rider for a standard plan. My insurance company tried to argue I was essentially pregnant with a toddler, despite having dated ultrasounds, bloodwork showing negative HCG testing, and dropped me from coverage for what they felt was concealment when I switched from my former employer's plan onto my own when I started my business. I ended up being covered by a high risk pool in CA, and funny enough, by the same carrier that dropped me.
For a party who is looking to limit birth control and abortion, this is something that possibly losing the ACA should further upset people because losing that coverage was terrifying.

JD Vance is the kind of guy who would have inspired me, if I ran into him at a bar when I was younger, to keep my hand over the top of the cup. What a creep.

Wish I was you. I probably would have fallen for it hook, line and sinker. Glad I’m smarter now
I had to turn it off.. too boring and wish Tim wouldn’t have been so buddy on his alignment with JD but I know that’s him being a nice person…way nicer than I.
