JD just blamed the immigrants for the housing crisis and Kamala for “letting millions in”.
ETA: The moderate just asked Vance to give evidence for this.
Vance said we are a country of doers. And we are (or Harris is?) giving housing away for free to immigrants. (Did he imply free houses are being given away?)
That's a current piece of disinformation floating around. That they're being handed cards with upwards of $20k (the number varies) on a card so of course they're going out and just buying houses and whatever while hardworking citizens can't afford housing or food.

Because $20k will buy you a house...where?
Well it would get you one before Kamala Harris started letting immigrants pour across the boarders with fentanyl!
Lol- per Axios morning newsletter, takeaways. He can't stand the spotlight NOT being on him...
Trump screams from sidelines. Trump seemed intent on counter-programming his own running mate's big night, reminding America who tops the ticket with live, all-caps screeds on Truth Social throughout the debate.

It’s interesting watching the differences in Vance and Trump.
Trump is bombastic and when he lies it’s super obvious because it’s so over the top insane that you can’t help but go WTWTFWTF every time he speaks. It literally (and I do mean literally) hurts to hear him put words out into the air. His lies are dangerous because they’re violent and they cater to the lowest common denominator.
Vance is smooth and oily. His lies are dangerous in a different way. He is good at lying in a way that Trump isn’t. He is like the proverbial phony used car salesman. I was still screaming STOP FUCKING LYING at the screen, but I can also acknowledge that his lies are more believable to people who aren’t in the know.

Also if you don’t want to be fact checked, STOP FUCKING LYING.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Yeah, we were talking about how Vance seemed more dangerous because he SOUNDED reasonable, and spoke coherently. It gives him an air of credibility he doesn't deserve.

This is exactly my thought.
Dan rather was pretty pissed at CBS for not live fact checking
I didn't watch because I was too nervous. Sounds like it went as expected. Vance was the oily lawyer/silicon valley executive who lied and Walz was nervous and mostly on point.
I hope that this doesn't sway uncommitted voters to 45 because Vance can better fake the appearance of someone rational, but looks like it won't move the needle much, if at all.

It’s interesting how the gut reactions seem to be divided along gender lines. Overall, the people on social media who think Vance exceeded expectations are men, regardless of political affiliation. Women overall seem to have had a more negative, visceral reaction to the creepiness and petulance and felt like Vance dug himself a deeper hole. Obviously there are exceptions but it’s an interesting trend line.

Vance is the man that makes us choose the bear. No wonder men don't get it.

It was nice to see a civil debate for once. Aside from Walz calling out an underage rape victim by name, and his non-answer to whether he was in China during the Tiananmen square massacre, I think he did pretty well. Unfortunately I also think that Vance is well spoken, even if most of what he says are lies. I'm wondering if people will look at that as a comparison and see how unhinged Trump really is during his debates.

Vance is the stereotypical TV/Movie slimy lawyer. Of course he’s well-spoken…he went to law school where quick thinking, big words, and being able to spin everything is taught and highly valued. Walz went to school to effectively teach facts in a way that students can understand. It’s two very different skill sets. One very much leads to a better surface-level debate performance, but that is not at all equivalent to being a better leader.
Thanks to Trump’s Truth Social live comments, hopefully people are reminded quickly of who would actually be calling the shots and meeting with foreign leaders!

Seriously. And his performance last night was giving sociopath. Smooth talker, gives all the “right” answers but with zero emotion or empathy, has dead eyes that it looks like he tried to disguise with eyeliner.
ETA: In a desperate attempt to be relevant, George Santos has clarified that Vance does not wear eyeliner but just has naturally luscious eyelashes. He is still creepy af.
Nobody is pro abortion you fuck face! We’re pro choice and pro shitheads like you staying out of my uterus!
ETA: or what Tim said LOL
Hi, very pro-abortion over here!
Anyway, my partner watched the debate and I didn’t put my ear plugs in like I did with Trump so I heard glimpses. If someone didn’t know anything about Vance they prob wouldn’t know he was so evil based on what I could hear. He knew he had to do his best to not fuck him so it seems he was on his best behavior. But I don’t think the VP debate changes anything.
