W: DH’s parents had a small life insurance policy on him from childhood and they just turned it over to us. We are already well insured so we cashed it out and put the money in the kids’ college accounts. It’s a nice little boost for them!
L: DD wants to take horseback riding lessons. She also had a birthday party this month which was $$$.

W: we're in the midst of a huge remodel and I picked out some faucets that were in the $400-700 range, which is in our budget. I looked on the Costco app last night--$199.99 for exactly the look I want by the brand that did all my other faucets so I trust the quality. We've been playing fast and loose with this budget so any little bit helps.
Win to end the month - H is moving to a new position at work that comes with a $4/hr increase. It won't be full time to start, but even a couple hundred dollars a month will make a difference towards our goals.

W: we did a no eat out September (I know, but we only calculated the savings this month) and we saved over $1000 by not eating out which is kind of nuts.
L: I’ve been away with friends for 2 weeks and it hasn’t been cheap, but it has been fun!

Ooh can you share which ones? We need some new faucets and have had a hard time finding anything we like.

For the kitchen, I ordered this from Costco. Others I considered were these two from Grohe and this Brizo. I do not like the faucets with the coil/spring.
We've had similar to this Hansgrohe in the bathrooms for years.
I need to spend more time on their sinks and garbage disposals because it looks like I can save about another $500 if the specs are similar.

themoneytree, my family and I should try a "no eat out" month as well, I imagine we'd save about what you did... DS is done with football now, and we had been picking up dinner after his games (he had early games, so picking up dinner around 7/7:30), so that will save us $50 a week already.

Our issue is that we live in the middle of a town with a TON of really great restaurants that we can stroll to in a few minutes. I love it, but eating out is way too easy here. It really wasn’t that hard to cut back going, we just had to stop using it as a default.
w? I don't get this eating out thing, I spent $172 on eating out this year, and $100 of that was buying a doordash gift card for my friend who was having surgery. We always do dinner parties with friends instead of eating out because it's crazy expensive here.
L: My work stepped up to 4 days in the office instead of being optional hybrid. I've spent hundreds more on gas and tolls, and had to spend $100 to fix a rock chip I got on the way home. Nevermind the lost productivity from being exhausted all day. I'd look for a new job but this is not a great time in the market or personally. We're still growing and hiring but it's hard to get people to move to a HCOL area right now.
