I read about this earlier and I’m just so mad. It’s outrageous. This guy has serious skeletons in his closet and is not even qualified for the job. It all feels so hopeless.
And proves that we are such suckers and losers to this guy and his band of cronies who don’t even try to hide their grifting and corruption. It’s really embarrassing for us.
The Bible is no place for the Pledge of Allegiance to a country. In fact, as a Christian, I often wonder why the church would encourage its people to pledge allegiance to anyone or anything other than God.
And even more importantly, the Public Schools are no place for the Bible, except if it and other religious texts are all available in the library.
Also, I believe only Baptists and a very few other places still require King James Version. If the goal is for kids to read it, you’d think they would at least choose something that could be read by them! A Quick look at my app shows words like beguile, ye, rudiments, shew, firmament, makers, etc.
"The Bible...including containing the Pledge of Allegiance and the Declaration of Independence...must have the Old and New Testaments, and include copies of the US Constitution.
According to Oklahoma Watch, the parameters for the bid effectively exclude thousands of Bibles."
Almost like the bible was meant to be written for everyone, and not just American Christian Nationalist 🤔

As a non religious person I often wonder why we pledge allegiance to God in our flag salute what with our supposed separation of church and state.
I definitely don't want my tax dollars going to buy Bibles.

Because communism. The OG pledge didn’t have the Under God line. It was added during the 50s because of communism and McCarthy.

Yep. We had to prove we're not godless commies.
I certainly am not the only kid who didn't understand the words I was saying let alone their implication. We certainly don't have liberty and justice for all. I also sang elemeno p in the alphabet song and didn't know they were distinct letters until long after I learned it. In my mind it's the same thing as mindlessly reciting the pledge before you know the meaning of what sounds you're making.
As an adult I refuse to say the pledge. I also hate our national anthem, musically and lyrically. Having been a military spouse, sometimes living on base, you hear it twice a day and have to entirely stop what you're doing if you're outside. No driving, no walking, doesn't matter if it's a blizzard or hurricane. That will make you dislike your country's forced singing and reciting with a quickness. These kids will probably resent it, too, especially kjv indoctrination. I do at least know my thee from thy and thou.
PP mentioned only baptists prefer that. I'm mostly familiar with that requirement being fundamentalist baptists. In my misspent youth I did go to baptist youth group a few times, and they used new revised version ie normal people speak. Places like pensacola christian college or oral roberts forse kjv. So OK requiring that is a very specific segment or a very small percentage of Christians.

If any one is in the market for a new podcast or two, I recommend I’ve Had It and its spin-off, IHIP news. The hosts are from Oklahoma, and did an episode recently on this. IHIP news is a daily short political news take, the original podcast is mostly comedy about petty grievances but they do a lot of political talk and advocacy too.
I obviously don’t have the Trump Bible here to look, but I read today that the Trump Bible only has the Bill of Rights, not the rest of the Amendments. Looks like there are articles from May that support that. Just when you think it can’t get any worse…

This is precisely why I haven’t said the pledge in over 20 years.
As both a teacher and Christian, I find these people abhorrent and terrifying.
