Did you/your daughter grow after first period?

I got my period in 4th or 5th grade, again don’t remember lol. Like I don’t have a clue if it was summer, fall, winter, etc.

I guess I was also moreso commenting on the height thing too. I have no clue how tall I was or how many inches I grew, really at any time period in my life. I just know I’m 5’3 now!

wanderingback, Teen/tween growth is cruel trick anyway. It's particularly notable for me, a mom of a almost 6ft tall 13 year old boy who is fully a foot taller than most of his friends. He feels out of place. They feel out of place. Being an early teen just sucks.

Yeah I was def the tallest/biggest in my classes for awhile, I do remember that. But I still don’t know exactly how tall I was!

I’ve always heard they grow for 2 years after their first period.

DD1 got hers right before she turned 14. She’s 16.5 and still growing, though I’m sure she’s just about topped out.

DD got hers when she was 11.5ish and was 5'1" tall. Now at 12.5 (almost exactly 1 year after her first) she's around 5'4" and still seems to be growing.

Dr. google tells ME that the average is another 2-3 inches after period.


I just looked at the little height record I keep for the kids, and that seems right on for my oldest. When she got her period, she had just barely hit 5 feet at age 12. She seems to have topped out at 5’3” at 15. I’m not even fully sure if she actually is 5’,3”, but she was five 2 1/2 forever and she so so so badly wanted to hit 5’3” (I don’t know why this mattered so much to her ) and the last time we were at the doctor they measured her at 53. So I hope they were right! I am afraid to double check.
