Oh, ugh, I'm sorry.
If you don't already know about it, Tecnu soap is a lifesaver if you know you've been exposed. It's saved me a few times when I've done yardwork and then noticed after the fact that I had gotten into some poison ivy.
Glad he went to the doctors and got some steroids. We had poison oak in our backyard and even though we were really careful while removing it the oil soaked through our clothing and we both got really bad cases. We even showed immediately after with Teco soap and threw away all of our clothing. My H got it worst and went to urgent care. He got steroids and a shot of antihistamine. The shot made him almost pass out so when I went to urgent care the next day the doctor was like I usually give this as a shot but someone almost passed out yesterday so I am going to do an IV for you instead. And I was like - yup that was my husband.
I had a TRAUMATIC experience with a plant (not poison ivy, but same reaction) where I was dx with scabies and stayed clear of my then preschool aged kids for weeks. It was seriously the r most awful thing ever. I can’t even tell you how much money I spent on both rx topical and oral medicine plus OTC stuff to try to keep sane.
When it started to come back after being gone for almost a month, I was then dx with shingles by the same doctor. Once it spread to both sides of my body, and I nearly had a complete breakdown, I cried myself into a dermatologist and got a double dose of Pred. It started getting better after 24 hours.

Also, it isn't the rash that spreads, it's the oil. Make sure he isn't coming into contact with the oil again and again. I got it from my dog before. It was on his fur and it got on our couch and I ended up with it all over my neck from hugging him and on the back of my legs from the couch.

Long story short, get steroids NOW.
this is terrifying me.
the Dr looked and said it was poison ivy on his arm and stuff BUT his hands looked like eczema. which I thought was weird. What if it's scabies? wtf?
