Speaking of work anniversaries, I just had my 5 year and got to pick a small gift off a list. Because I don't need a 500th coffee mug, I selected the #ratchetset and thought of you all.
I've finished all of my urgent work, and don't want to start anything else because a) Friday of a holiday weekend, b) waiting on a phonecall from a colleague about a moving to a different agency that I would LOVE to work at, and c) cleaners should be here any minute. I should figure out food for next week and put together my grocery order but I don't wanna.
Should be a fun, relaxing weekend- local farm store for pumpkins this evening and picking up sushi/ramen for dinner on the way home, probably apple picking tomorrow morning, and brewery with friends Sunday afternoon. Maybe just nothing on Monday.
I’ve begun to realize that whenever H spends any amount of time with MIL he seems to develop this attitude. And I know she treats him like he’s gods gift to the world. But this week after he spent 4 days with her last week he’s been especially rude. I lost my shit yesterday and told him to STFU and if he yelled at DS one for time for acting like a kid I was going to throw his ass out. I’m quite sure the neighbor out on their deck heard it all. I’m sure most healthy relationships don’t deal with stuff like this but I reach a breaking point at times where I lose it because I’m the one who has to be the grown up all the time.
I finally got my official letter from HR saying my 1 year probationary period is completed and attained permanent status for my job!
A co-worker from my old toxic job messaged me today saying a reporter left them a message asking why they left said toxic company....piquing our interest as to what is going on! They asked if I was approached by any reporter, I haven't. Still, now I'm deeply curious what the story is!
It took me over 2 hours, but I was able to get Coldplay Tickets. They are playing in my state! I haven't seen them since 2000 so it's going to be amazing! I'm taking DH, DD and DD's best friend.

I over-invited kids to my daughter's birthday party because she doesn't have true "friends" and I am getting too many yeses (for my wallet, not capacity). I am happy all these people want to come but also was not expecting this kind of turnout. sob
I saw everyone posting last night about the lights so I went outside and couldn't see anything. I took a picture on a whim and the way I gasped when the picture loaded! I just got the new iPhone 16 and it automatically did the long exposure, which my brick of a iPhone SE did not do, so I was shocked. I was able to capture stars! So so cool.
same! I thought I couldn't see anything either but was blown away by my iphone camera photos.

I just celebrated 7 years at my job. I also have a phone interview this afternoon at 3 with a private practice. We’ll see how that goes. It’d be a $3-8 /hr pay raise, and a 10 min commute. So, I’ll give her some of my time. I do really like 85% of my job, so we’ll see.
When I get home though, DH and I are hanging drywall and I’ll be mudding & taping. Yay!

I'm so jealous of anyone with Monday off. I really miss having that long weekend before Thanksgiving (in a month and a half.)
We were able to see the lights last night however it was quite cloudy. Most of my friends had incredible views. I was kind of jealous but happy they posted. They say we might be able to see it tonight too, but it's supposed to be more cloudy whomp whomp.
That Bachelorette party I was posting about a while ago is finally happening. I decided not to go as dinner ended up being about $125 per person, and that didn't cover the brides meal. Then gambling and fun. Honestly are they eating caviar? One of my friends decided to be nice and reserve 2 hotel rooms at the casino for those staying over as the get discounts and reward points*. Last night in the group chat someone finally noticed that the bride can't stay over night and they were going to cancel 1 room to drive the bride back tonight, but it was too late and my friend will get charged over $1K. Thankfully my friend was able to cancel the room, but it took a lot of sweet talking to the casino. Goodness folks you were up our a$$es about this 2 months ago, did no one check the brides schedule first?! I hope they have a wonderful time.
Finally, I've been ordering way too much on Amazon between DH's birthday and trying to DIY two Halloween costumes (Punky Brewster and Taylor Swift "A Lot Going On at the Moment"). I went through a bunch of packages last night and ended up with 2 pairs of "sexy, comfy" thongs that are 3 sizes too small. I haven't looked at underwear on Amazon so I'm truly puzzled other than thinking someone misloaded the wrong package with one of my correct items. DH is having a good laugh about it, but I feel bad for whoever really wanted/needed said underwear. I haven't shopped drunk or after a procedure, just so strange!
*The group chat had a whole hullabaloo about cheaper hotels near the casino, but apparently "it's not safe" or something. I was tempted to stay over, but the hotel was averaging close to $250 a person for the night due to the holiday weekend.

First day of fall break. Looking forward to the kids having the next week off. DS1 still has cross country, so we are staying local, but will find some fun things to do.
I'm taking DD into the city tomorrow night to see Pink. Our hotel, dinner reservations, and concert venue are all in good walking distance. We have matching outfits to wear and great seats.
DH is flying home from Mexico today, will likely have to go back 1 to 2 more times before the end of the year. Glad he gets in this evening so we can both go to DS1's meet in the AM. It's an hour away, so good time to catch up.
I scraped the car coming into the garage and it's a fucking mess. No one can look at it until Monday morning and I'm catastrophizing and so fucking upset.
I know it's not a huge deal, but I'm so so angry at myself for doing something so stupid.

I can’t find the glasses I wear everyday and it’s so frustrating! I had a hectic day yesterday and took them off to wash my face before an evening meeting and then couldn’t find them. I don’t know if the toddler took them somewhere?!
Thankfully I have 2 back up pairs and 1 is decent, while the other I’d prefer not to wear out the house lol. I hope they show up while I’m away on my weekend trip…
I signed up for memberships to the zoo for the first time about a month ago and in that time at least five animals have died or been moved to other zoos. At this rate there won’t be anything left for us to see by the time the membership expires!
We’re having dinner at my in laws house tonight. They are not good cooks so I’m kind of dreading it.

I think we are in the same metro area. For all zoo animals, please cancel your members ASAP
My new boss decided to come observe my class today. Last period on Friday, 8th graders in the middle of chaotic project, and my learning support teacher was out. It went well but so much energy!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I’m sorry. I hit my neighbor’s car in our garage a few weeks ago (apartment building), and I was so pissed af myself for days. It’s a terrible feeling.

My dad and I have a ricky relationship. When it’s good it fun. Like today. He called to check-in. He and I were bantering being silly. I made a joke he never sends me money when he mentioned sending DD money via cash app. I just got a text that I have a transaction in cash app. He sent me $5 and told me to go buy myself something nice. I sent it back and said it is missing some zeros. He sent me $50. 😂
Should I send it back and press my luck telling him it’s missing a zero?
I am currently sitting in a hotel lounge 2 hours from my family on a solo weekend getaway. I left DH with both kids, a houseguest and a kitchen full of dirty dishes.
I plan to take up as much of the king sized bed as I can, soak in the deep tub, hike and get a massage. All.by.myself.

The interview was fine. The office seems like a mess. Nice people, but there’s a LOT of chaos and things to solve. Which would be fun and doable.
However, FT there is 32-35 hours. So even with the pay increase, it pretty lateral pay wise. I’m going to meet the doctor next Thursday afternoon, so we’ll see what it’s like. :/

I wish we could ping glasses the way we can with our phones. This happens to me an embarrassingly large number of times.

Yes! I’m at the airport and still didn’t find them grrr. I did plan to get an updated eye exam and new glasses and contacts but I didn’t mean to be forced to do so this way lol.
We got new gutters this morning, and this afternoon I made peanut butter cookie dough with Reese's pieces and PB cups. I also don't have to cook dinner (leftover pizza), so today's been pretty good.
I'm so disappointed that I couldn't see the northern lights last night! I kept looking outside, but didn't try taking pictures. Everyone around me saw them, including my neighbor, ugh. Someone even got a great picture this morning on the way to the gym!
However, another lady at the gym was complaining she didn't see them, come to find out that she was looking out her southern window all night. So, at least I was looking north lol.
Lol omg, duh moment. To be fair all our windows are south and we have no windows that face north (or east or west). But I def went on our south facing balcony after someone in our neighborhood posted a pic and told my partner, well I guess I missed it cause I don’t see shit.

I've done that to two different cars in the last 1.5 years. One was the car H and I were selling to my parents. We'd had it 9 years and no scrapes. The month before we sold it to them I did that so I of course had to quickly get it repaired. I was so annoyed with myself!
