blondemoment123, I can't tell you how many times I realize when I see my reflection in my car mirror or a glass door that my hair is sticking out in 19 different directions. I hate looking at myself in the mirror and WFH full time, so I completely forget to care that I look somewhat presentable when walking out the door.
I had a newer friend over for a fire this weekend. We got along well, but I am still weirded out by how many pictures she took of my dogs. They're adorable and I take plenty of pictures of them, but they're MY dogs. She has her own very cute dog to take all the photos of! I'm not sure I've ever taken pictures of a friend's dog that didn't also have one of my dogs in the shot as well.
I guess I need to deactivate social media again for a while. I learned of two different parties of friends this weekend that we weren't invited to, and I'm really struggling with it.
I understand that it's everyone's right to invite whoever they want. And my mental health has not been good so I've been declining a lot of invites/ just generally not as visible in our friend groups this year.

blondemoment123 the other day L told me I should put on some earrings that were on my bedside table. When I said I didn't need them, he insisted: "you look a little pretty. With these you'll look very pretty." I wore the earrings. I'm sure you look great!
jinkies, I'm sorry. I think we've all been there in terms of rationally understanding and accepting something social but also feeling really hurt and sad. If you're looking for a solution, maybe this is a sign that if you're up for it, you should invite friends to do something so they know you're still interested in hanging out with them. If you're just looking for commiseration, :head pats:, they're dumb meanies who are missing out!

I was on a virtual meeting this morning and thought I heard talking upstairs (my home office is in the basement). It's just me and the dog home today, so now I'm kind of freaked out...
I didn't make my coffee strong enough, so will definitely need a second cup today.
I have to call the vet to see if I can get an appointment - our dog has been shaking his head quite a bit the past few days, so I'm worried he is getting or has an ear infection.

Update from the weekend Randoms- found my roast. It was at the way way back of the fridge, under a package of bacon that I mistook for a stockpile of bacon. Crisis averted
I forgot that it’s Columbus Day today, 🙄 and I couldn’t imagine why a student texted me to ask if we have class. We do. No college I’ve ever worked at has ever had it off. Sorry, friends!
My mom has been asking me for more than a week to come over and help her order some things for her house, like curtains, and new towels and stuff. I’ve been dragging my feet for several reasons. One- Amazon isn’t hard to figure out. Two- can’t one of the two adults (my sister and nephew) help her? But the biggest reason of all, that I just realized yesterday, is because my dad got sick just about a year ago and I don’t wanna go over to their house. Guess I know what I’m talking about in therapy this week 🥀
We got back from Nashville last night. The Jason Isbell shows were amazing. The Ryman is just such an awesome venue.
H leaves today for Las Vegas for a conference until Thursday evening. So of course (because it's always SOMETHING when he goes out of town) Stella's acting weird this morning. She just tried to get up on the tile floor and had some trouble with her back legs slipping. That in itself isn't super unusual, but then when she had her legs under her she couldn't keep her back end up for a few tries. It really freaked me out. So I'll be watching her closely and hopefully I don't have to do any emergency runs to the vet by myself. Luckily I'm already using a work from home week since H is gone so I'll be here.
Someone tried to break into our cars and stole the stop signs on our street over the weekend - actually 3 someone's. H just happened to be up at 1:30 AM and heard them, opened the curtains and they left.
Of course, our cameras didn't pick up anything! They recorded the police, but nothing before that. Seems like any time I actually am looking for footage there is nothing, but I get alerted to every passing car and human out for a walk.
ProfessorArtNerd, I'm glad the missing roast was found. And refrigerated even.
Last summer, we had my mom over for steaks on a Friday night. There was an extra filet in the package, so I put it in a Ziploc and sent her home with it. She's more of a carnivore than any of us are. DS (ADHD) gave her (wicked ADHD) a ride home. He saw her in and visited the cat for a bit before heading home. On Thursday I got a text from DS "Nana might have left something in my car. It looks like it might have been meat maybe". <hork>
I'm in an all day symposium on Zoom, and my attention span isn't what it used to be, lol. I do find it helpful that I can put in my Airpods and go walk or do other tasks as I seem to focus better on listening to the speakers when I'm not sitting at my computer, tempted to do other work or look at FB or whatever.
I ran my garbage disposal this morning and it was making a bad grinding noise. Pretty sure we used it last night while cleaning up after dinner and would've noticed if it had done that, so I don't know what's going on. Didn't see anything stuck in there, and none of my teaspoons or any other culprits of something that could have went down there are missing so I am perplexed. I don't know if I should call our guy who usually fixes this stuff or just monitor it and see if whatever is in there clears out. I'm like scared to run it though, lol. It's always something broken here anymore
DS was ready to go and heading out the door when he had to run to the bathroom sick to his stomach. I hate it when any of is sick. My OCD hits overdrive.

meanie, I just heard about thieves using WiFi jammers to prevent security cameras from recording their activity. It's possible your cameras were being jammed.

Speaking of roast, we made one this weekend. It was $49 for a 6lb roast. When the hell did that happen? Sadly, it wasn't even that delicious.
I took a final yesterday morning. I got a 97% in the class which makes me feel great. Now I have 2 classes left to finish my MBA. I get a week off before the next one starts.
FI and I are talking about not having a party after we elope. I really want a party, but there's been a ton of family drama lately and neither of us are up for it or want to be involved with it. Unfortunately, I don't think it's as simple as not inviting the offenders.
H and DS are both off today and Monday is my one day in the office. I was so jealous that they were both still in bed when I left. It's cool and rainy here and would be a perfect day to stay home and read, watch movies, bake cookies. I'm definitely leaving by lunch and working the rest of the afternoon on the couch under a blanket.
The only good thing about working and H being off is that he'll catch up on all the laundry and make dinner tonight.
ProfessorArtNerd, maybe they are from Illinois? It's still a holiday in Chicago, I think. My BFF (lifelong southsider) was surprised I had to work today, Also, Casimir Pulaski Day!

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I wanted to make braised short ribs this weekend and it would have cost me like $50 for just enough for the 3 of us. I feel like short ribs used to be very reasonable. H and I both like pork, so we've been making more pork for dinner (tenderloin, chops, roasts etc) since it's so cheap. I made a 5lb pork roast yesterday and it was $10. And it was delicious. We have so much leftover so I plan on using some for fried rice later this week.

Oh that makes sense, more things to worry about lol
Here's a true random... In the southern hemisphere, are they still called the "northern lights"? Are they the southern lights instead since they would originate near the south pole instead?

Well you made me curious and I'm procrastinating, so google says the answer is... no. They are called "aurora australis" or southern lights in the southern hemisphere.

Kid had cheer competition yesterday and I just don't like that she can't just do sideline because that is what she really enjoys but they are not 2 separate teams in our area. Her team came in last place and we tried to make it seem like no big deal (because in the grand scheme of things it's really not) but they were bummed. Thankfully this is the last year of it being a combo - next year she can do just sideline. Thankfully we had plans to stop at the mall on the way home so her new uggs boosted her mood LOL And now we have to have a parent meeting tonight because they're "making some changes" - come on now. There is only one more comp left, just let it go!
I can't find my credit card and it's bugging me. It's not in my wallet. It's VERY likely it's at home because I don't use it very many places out in the world and I *think* the last time I used it I was paying for something online at home so I'm hoping that it's on the table by my chair in the living room because that is where I typically do that kind of stuff. I already confirmed that H doesn't have it. I hate stuff like this
We got an email today that the pig we ordered is going to the butcher at the end of the week so I need to spend some time getting the freezers organized so we're ready for it. And I need to plan for how we'll fit the beef that's coming shortly after. I absolutely know it's a privilege to be able to go this route with meat because while it's a big front loaded cost it's cheaper than the grocery store and having it in the house already makes life easier but it's overwhelming when it comes in. I'm making the kid help me this time for sure!
We had something go missing and it’s driving me bonkers. It’s a title game called Hive and it came with a round pouch to store it in.
It’s not a game we’ve played a lot because you need a big surface to play on and we don’t really have one inside the house.
Anyway, now I have my dad’s house and there is a bigger table there so I remember putting it in our living room and then taking it to the other house with some other games the next time I went there.
It’s not there. The house there is small and has very little storage and there is no place it could be. It’s not in the living room here. My husband swears he didn’t do anything with it and it’s not where our other games go.
It’s not in my car because I’ve been hauling stuff back and forth between my house, that house and donating to thrift stores for months and I would have noticed it.
I don’t even care about the game that much but I feel like I’m losing my mind.

I'm wfh today and so far two different people have knocked on my door. I've been in back to back meetings for the last 3 hrs so it's a total disruption. The first one was a salesperson and I said "I wfh and I'm in a meeting" and his response was "this will just take a moment of your time" so I responded "no. leave now" Like, seriously?
My friend was in town this weekend, because she had suggested going to see Justin Timberlake together. I have always liked his music fine but had mixed feelings about him as a person, but decided to go anyway because concerts are fun and I was glad my friend had a reason to fly in and hang out. We went last night - it was fun, the concert was entertaining, but I realized how much I really don't like him as a person because I found myself annoyed with him a lot. It put a damper on it for me because parts seemed so cheesy and self congratulatory. I did have a good time with my friend and of course so many of his songs are fun so it wasn't a waste to go, but I probably wouldn't go see him again.
We got home at 12:30am and then she had a 6:40am flight so I slept for like 3 hours, got up and drove her there/back for the next 1.5 hours, and then slept about another 2 before I had to get up and go into the office today. I am dragging. I should be able to leave the office around 2 and head home, and I have a feeling I'm going to take a good nap. I have work to do so I'll probably have to do that this evening, but I don't know that I'm going to be very useful until I get more sleep. I am way too old for this, lol. But no regrets, I'm glad I got to see my friend.
blondemoment123, there was a day this summer that I picked DS up and I had decided to let my hair air dry and scrunch it. His immediate words were "OMG what's up with your hair?" so I feel you.

I’m going to see Pink tonight with my sister. I have an 8am flight home. wildrice, I am preemptively feeling your pain 😆 I know I’m too old for this, haha. But I’m looking forward to it, we should have a good time.
