So overall I'm happy about this, but I think it's ridiculous that our Pedi. didn't know about this allergist and only gave us info. for a Dr. 45 min. away.
I can never get useful referrals from our pedi office. Everyone has different insurance, I imagine it is really hard for them to keep it updated. I wouldn't blame this one on the office. I always have to find specialists that take our insurance on my own, usually through the insurance portal is the best way.
I think my biggest issue was that when I asked, she was like OH! I have this really helpful form that lists all the drs! If she would have just said, I'm not sure, you can try x or something, or we have this list but it might not be the most updated, I would have sought the info. on my own from the beginning. Insurance is also weird in our area...there are 2 main insurance companies and 2 major health systems, each one associated with one of the main insurance companies, so it's usually pretty clear if a Dr. is associated with one of the health systems, their office takes that insurance and not the other.
Don't get me started on our insurance's 'find a Dr.' part of their website. It is beyond unhelpful.

I'm in Canada so everything is free but I have two complaints.
I took FIL (diagnosed dementia) to his annual physical today. MIL was sick and she did not want to miss and reschedule his appointment. The receptionist scheduled, cancelled, and rescheduled three follow up appointments while we waited after the physical. Now my poor MIL is trying to straighten it all out while FIL is yelling that he has six doctor's appointments. He cannot understand time anymore so he thinks they are all at the same time/date/maybe today/maybe tomorrow.
Our local doctors office has a LifeLabs internal. MIL needed a blood draw and I told her she could go there since it is not busy and easy to use. She could not book an appointment online, although their phone message says to book appointments online. 80 year olds cannot handle this shit.

Also I need to know why you can't show up and put information about someone's mental state in their record at their doctors office.
Let's say someone close to you had developed substance abuse related psychosis. They have been put on leave from work. They have informed the doctors that it was a bad trip and they've stopped using. However, this has triggered a longer term psychosis and they are having multiple clear and repeated delusions and telling everyone about them. If you mention they are experiencing delusions then they go on the defensive/denial. They are currently taking prescribed medications that are known to make psychosis worse.
I am utterly perplexed on what I can do. Either things go absolutely nuclear (not the desired outcome) or they continue along. The longer someone stays in psychosis the longer and more difficult it is to get them out.
And if course I am the absolute enemy in all of this.
