I would also start a bit later and do pizza, play, cake. Otherwise the kids will devour any snacks they can find and then not eat the pizza you bought. There's always room for cake, though.

6-8, feed them 6-6:30, then play. Send them hine with a goodie bag thar contains an applesauce squeeze and goldfish to eat in the car in the way home for 2nd dinner.
I WFH on Fridays and would bring my kid. Their dad often WFH on Fridays also and would purposely do so if he had to shuttle a kid to a party on a Friday evening. If I had to pickup from aftercare at 5 or earlier to get to the party on time, I'd have him eat a heavy-ish snack in the car if food was at 7:30.
I love evening parties now that my kids are a bit older (my son is 8). So nice not to disrupt the whole weekend and to have a night where I don't have to think about dinner!
