Yesterday was the last day of early voting for my area. I went to the local senior center and was in and out in about 15 minutes (short line, but apparently the ballot printer at the station where I checked in was overheating so it took a bit for my ballot to be printed).
I was running errands yesterday in the next (bigger) town over and there were some folks out waving "Republicans for Harris" banners, bless them. Interestingly, my DH, who is registered as an independent, got a letter yesterday co-signed by both our current D House rep and the former R House rep, with BOTH of them supporting the current D candidate. Which says something about the level of crazy of the R candidate.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
No line at my polling place at 6:40, I was kind of shocked. I've gone later in the morning for previous presidential elections and definitely waited in line. I'm assuming it's due to expanded early voting.
There were a couple of Rs out front with just a couple of chairs looking very disengaged, and the Dem tent had a lot more energy, big table with stickers etc. I hope that carries into voting!
ETA: A friend who was chatting with election workers was told that our nearest early voting location was seeing ~1000 voters on a lot of days, and that Saturday (last day of early voting) there were 1.5hr+ lines at most early voting centers.
It is pouring and has been for days in our city. We woke up and were at our polling place by 6:30 or so, home by 7:20. I had planned to go later today but woke up in a panic attack about lines and shoved DH out of bed without showering or anything. I was not, in fact, wearing a bra when I voted for our first woman president.

I've never been so happy to change my answer on a poll. Waited in line for an hour today after getting there 22 minutes after it opened, but I've officially voted. In the 9 years I've lived here I've never waited in line longer than a few minutes, and the last presidential election I was voter 300-something late in the afternoon and #219 today, so this is giving me hope.
@@@@ We waited an hour, my son (7) thanked every person for voting. We got our stickers and then I played my kamala playlist and drove to work. I have PTSD back to 2016 but feel hopeful and scared. My heart breaks for HRC that she did not win in the first place, that our country is so divided.
You guys - this isn’t related to me but I’m not sure where else to put it. I live in a swing state. I have a good friend who voted Trump in 2016 and didn’t vote at all in 2020. I asked her the other day if she was planning to vote this year and she said she wasn’t sure, that she was leaning toward Kamala but doesn’t love her and hadn’t done much research so might just sit it out. We got into a long discussion about what I think is good about Kamala and what negative things will happen if Trump wins. She one of them will be our president in January we need to vote even if you don’t LOVE the person. She sounded like she was coming around but didn’t actually confirm. I texted her a reminder to vote this morning and she said our conversation prompted her to do more research, she is terrified by Trump and her and her husband will be going to vote for Harris!
Longest I've waited in the 9 years I've lived here. I got really emotional.
As I was leaving my neighborhood, I had to wait for a city vehicle to remove a Trump sign in the right of way. I assume its because it was within a certain distance of the polling place. But as I drove to work, I noticed someone had placed them in right of ways in a few other neighborhoods. Sigh. I cannot wait until the day I don't have to see those damn signs and flags anymore.
For a more positive anecdote, my manager asked me if me wearing blue today was intentional, and I said you better believe it. He was also wearing blue.
Voted over lunch! There was only a couple other people at my polling station which was a tad discouraging. I know MA is in the bag for Harris (and Senator Warren), but we have several important questions on the ballet. I hope I just missed the morning rush!
@@ I've been talking to the kids about the election for weeks and about voting for the last few days since I knew they'd be with me. We went and voted, and I explained the ballet and how it works. We then left and were walking down to the pizza shop for lunch and DD (5) was all "So when are we voting?". Girl what? lol
Voted. There was a minor snafu initially where the machine was jammed, and the ladies working handled it calmly and quickly. I was only #19 at my small precinct in my town (seeing much larger numbers elsewhere though, so perhaps mine really is just that small). I'll be curious to see what H is when he votes later.
beerlover, I was #229, I told my dh to get his number when he goes this afternoon. I went around 10 am. I never have to wait so it was pretty normal there. Solid D precinct.
It look me longer to park the car and walk in then the entire time I was in the building. The benefit of living in an older community where they all vote when the doors open.
I did a happy dance as my ballot was being fed into the machine.
So even here, 10% of people who intended to vote never did.
I don’t think a board poll is very indicative of this. How many people checked that they were going to vote and then voted, but just never came back to this thread?

I just tracked my ballot again (dropped it off early at my polling place in a secure box), and it still hasn’t been received (thus not counted), and neither has my H’s.
