I thought it was fascinating. I hope it's more like what we will see with the votes. In my ZIP Code, it's $300K for Harris and $10K for Trump. Not surprising that it's in favor of Harris but I was surprised at how big of a difference there was.
The shading is misleading - you'd think it would be by percentage of donors or money toward on campaign or the other, but it's by raw numbers.
Some sparsely populated zip code near me are very light blue despite a strong Harris preference. In one, 81 people supported Harris, but one guy gave $60 to Trump. In another, 42 people gave a collective 10K to Harris, but there is that one person who kicked $20 to Trump. 88/2, 59/4, 57/1, etc.
This is really fascinating!! I live in a pretty red area (a suburb of Dallas) and my zip code shows 605/$50k to Harris and 235/$30k Trump. I realize I still live in a red area, but the signage on my block alone is overwhelmingly Harris. Maybe my area isn't quite as red as I think it is.
ETA: The update increases the total for Trump to $70k, but we still have nearly 200 more donors for Harris.

LOL 2M to Harris and 10k to Trump in my zip code, I'm surprised it's "only" $2M.
In my parent's red zip code is $7K harris $10K trump, but 93 Harris donors vs 69 Trump. So more donors, just less money. Which is...surprising. Their town is heavily Amish and Mennonite so they actually live amongst a lot of non-voters.
In a good sign for the Philly suburbs, my in-laws is $300k Harris (1700 donors) vs $50K Trump (300 donors).
Interesting! My historically red suburb has given more actual dollars to Trump, but far more individual donors to Harris.
What's really fascinating to me is my old neighborhood. I grew up in a rural area in TN and all the zip codes I looked up there have given FAR more to Harris than Trump in both actual dollars and # of donors. I had absolutely zero hope of that area ever changing from red- but maybe there is some home.
In my parent's red zip code is $7K harris $10K trump, but 93 Harris donors vs 69 Trump. So more donors, just less money.
This is the case in several zip codes I clicked on. It's hard for me to imagine that someone who donates would not vote, so I am hopeful!
This was the case for our previous zip code in a VERY VERY red area. I’m surprised that there were more Harris donors! Slightly more money raised for Trump, but not much. I’m kind of shocked by how low the numbers of donors are for both parties though….like, shockingly low.
Our primary zip has many many more Harris donors which is nice to see because we are a purple area but I have definitely seen more Trump signs than Harris (though not as many as previous years).
What is surprising to me is our cottage is in a small town of about 1000 people in a red area. It is showing 63 people donating 7k to Harris and 44 people donating 4k to Trump.
ETA: also checked the very red area I grew up in/my parents still live in. While Trump got more $$, Harris got more donors. I really hope this is a good sign about what’s to come.
Another ETA - the update changed the numbers where our cottage is and where I grew up significantly to show more donors/$$ for Trump. Womp womp
UPDATED with post-correction numbers. All are unfortunately pro-Trump now:
Both where my parents currently live (central FL) and where I grew up (AZ) are remarkably even splits: FL: 421 donors / $50k to Biden/Harris, 298 553 donors / $40k 80k to Trump AZ: 185 donors / $10k to Biden/Harris, 109 195 donors / $10k 20k to Trump
ETA: also the rural-ish area in western PA where my aunt & uncle live: PA: 32 donors / $5k to Biden/Harris, 37 65 donors / $4k 10k to Trump

My neighborhood is significantly higher for Harris than Trump (both in $$ and #) which doesn't surprise me at all.
What did surprise me quite a bit is that the extremely red zip where I grew up also had disproportionate #s toward Harris. I would be absolutely shocked if she pulls out a win there but it gives me hope for the future.
After the correction, this is still true. My hometown zip code did go up for Trump, but it's still disproportionate toward Harris.
I do love these numbers, but I think it has largely to do with the excitement for Harris and the fact that Trump has been milking his base dry for the past 8 years. I think his base, while obviously still voting for him, is tired of donating to him.

I looked at my zip code and several others in the vicinity, and I'm not surprised to see that the number of Harris donations is far greater than the number of Trump donations, but what is interesting is that the Trump donors are averaging a higher $$ amount per donation than the Harris donors. For example in my zip code the Trump donors average $156 while the Harris donors average is only $95.
I am not a bubble per say because my region is very blue, not just a bubble, but my specific zip code shows 300K to kamala with about 286 individual donations, and less than ten for trump, for a total of $900.
Thank you for sharing - I'm super fascinated by this. However, it does make my stomach turn a little seeing how much money is being pumped into political campaigns and could be put to good use in local communities.
I am shocked that my little severely red zip is tied on $$ give to both candidates but the number of Harris donors exceeds Trumps
Argh, they updated the article with a correction - to say they had previously left out data from Trump National Committee. And now the gift link won't open for me
