I had a Mohs procedure done for a basal cell carcinoma on my forehead maybe 9 years ago? I was able to stay on site while the doc ran the tests to check and see if they got it all and I think that took an hour or so. With the procedure itself, waiting on the results, and then closing up the incision I think I was there about 3 hours. I definitely have a scar but it's on the upper part of my forehead near my hairline so that helps hide it.
My husband had a Mohs procedure on his face. We did not expect the fact that they ended up going so deeply they would not stitch him up, but instead made him an appointment the next day at a plastic surgeon.
The plastic surgeon did an amazing job. Although my husband feels like there’s some scarring, it’s right on the bridge of his nose and I am not actually sure I can really see it. It’s his face so I trust him, but I’m just saying, it’s really not visible to me.
But the way it with the process was described to us we definitely thought this involved just scraping off a few layers of skin cells, and we didn’t understand that it could end up being much deeper than that. Obviously YMMV.
