I love the extra hour on Sunday. I used to think I’d rather stay on summer time year round, but winter mornings would feel so blah. I’m coming around to DST.
I don’t like any of it. Peak summer the sun is up for 4:30-10:30 (not joking) and peak winter the sun is gone by 5pm. If I had to choose I think I would move clocks up and leave it.

I’ll be okay next week because I’ll few like I slept in a little and be marginally better rested than usual. But I still think it’s stupid and don’t love how early it will be dark. It always throws me way off. The spring one is my worst enemy and I hate it with the fire of a thousand suns. It takes me weeks to feel slightly rested after that.
I LOVE the return to standard time. I actually call it my favorite day of the year. Having the light earlier in the morning and dark earlier in the evening is my jam. I'm odd and find the endless daylight of summer off-putting. I sleep so much better this time of year.

I am dreading it. I really struggle with this time of year. It takes me a few good weeks to feel not completely off-kilter with how dark it gets so early. I absolutely love summer when the sun rises at 5:30 and sets near 9 PM here. Winter is ROUGH for me. I am already longing for April.
Team pick a time and stick with it. You'll always have more daylight hours in the summer and fewer in the winter, nothing can change that part. But we can stop the madness that is switching out times, especially now that we're only doing standard time for about four months out of the year. Add that to the list of things I'll never forgive Dubya for.

Ok every year we have this conversation and I still get confused about what daylight savings is. I know we fall back in the fall and spring forward in the spring but all the talk of standard time bs daylight savings time gets lost on me no matter how many times I look it up.

We're starting Standard time. Daylight savings is ending.

Thank you!! I’m sure I’ll make a similar post in the spring but let’s hope it sticks this time
(This is in no way any disrespect to our Philly members.)
I’ve been learning a lot about Ben Franklin this past year and it’s not great. This candle saving thing he floated for DST is stupid. And Ben Franklin is an AH.
(I know the story is apocryphal but he’s still an AH.)

I love Standard Time because I am an early bird and it lifts me up so much to have light earlier in the day. When I do work in the office (which admittedly is generally only once a week), I have to leave between 5:30 and 6 to avoid as much traffic as possible. It’s so depressing to me to drive to work in the dark.
I am not bothered by clocks changing at all. Clearly, I am a minority.
Oh yes I should’ve added this in to my post as well haha. I’m not at all sensitive to time change so it doesn’t bother me. Like the people that say they’re dragging for weeks after the time change is just not something I experience. Maybe because I have an erratic bedtime and wake up schedule in general? Sometimes I’m up at 6, sometimes I’m up between 730 and 8. The days are shorter/darker because of winter in general so it is what it is.
Year round Standard Time for me.I have reverse SAD. We are coming up on my happy time.
Also, I hate when the dum dums around me act like the time change makes it more dark instead of more darkness being caused by winter.
Well, because of the time change it is an abrupt change. If we did not change the clocks it would be a gradual change to less light. So I can see why people say this.
Team pick a time and stick with it. I say we split the difference. Adjust the clocks 30 minutes and just keep them there.

Anecdote: A colleague of mine once sent an email to a job candidate and she included EST in the time for clarity purposes. (We were an international org based in Boston and we had candidates from all over applying, so the clarification was important.)
The dude wrote back to her saying, “It is not Standard Time right now, so the use of EST here is not appropriate.”

I'd rather just pick one and stick with all year, but I'm also not sensitive to the change. Even when I had babies I never really understood the big fuss...its an hour.
