To watch the NYT needle or to not watch the NYT needle, that is the question.
The NYT tech team is on strike, in case that affects your decision. The union specifically asked people not to use the Games and Cooking apps, but you could avoid their interactive products out of solidarity.
I am going to try to stay away from the live results for as long as I can by working out and doing some other errands, but I know my anxiety will get the best of me probably around 8pm and I will turn on MSNBC and follow along here. I also no longer drink during the week, but TBD.
I can't drink till probably 8 or 9. I plan to order Thai food and start a rewatch of the first 2 seasons of Somebody Somewhere on Max. I HIGHLY recommend this underrated gem of a show if you haven't seen it!

Knew about the Games/Cooking thing, but didn’t even think about the needle! A great reason to avoid, beyond preventing a heart attack.

I had a full blown anxiety attack at 1am this morning and am still extremely discombobulated (I forgot my phone at home on the way to work for example) so my plan is to try and not have another anxiety attack and possibly drink.

I did not know about this, but I'm happy to uninstall the games app in solidarity. Will also happily avoid all NYT products until further notice.
Update: I've run all the errands and done all the cleaning. I have 4-ish hours to kill. Breaking out the crochet 🤗
I like cville 's plan. Soon as H is back from the gym I'm sticking my phone in a lockbox and burying it in the backyard.
So ready for this to be over and also so desperate for a win. This is a difficult emotional whirlpool to be in right now. Or any time ever.

Just got home from voting and I have to say I'm feeling really good! My polling place was busier than it usually is, spirits were high, and women were at least 80% of the people voting while I was there.
@@
Also, voting for who I hope with my whole heart will be our first female president with my 10-year-old daughter standing next to me was a *really* good feeling.
Can anyone tell me how I can watch Election Coverage today? I don't have cable or local channels, only streaming services. I know about Amazon, but am wondering if there are any other options. I'm willing to sign up and pay for a new service if need be. I'm so mad at myself for not thinking about this sooner.
Urgh… 3 hour flight delay gets me home as polls start closing. We early voted but traffic will be worse at rush hour and I had other stuff I needed to do before I could settle in front of the TV!
My tradition had been to watch Wag The Dog while refreshing my browser. I’m currently debating if I want to do that this year, as who knows where my DVDs are, and I’d have to pay to rent it on Amazon. Plus, it feels so traditional normal.
Invited a friend over, but they have DnD. And apparently their crew I going to play through the return. H goes to bed early and I really want to be with someone when it happens. And it will happen! We are going to do this!!!!!
(Note, I’ve spent weeks with all the dismal stuff, I’ve moved on to positive and not even wanting to hear all the shinanigans).
I'd say come over to my house but I think I'll be terrible company. Also it's a mess. There's a watch party at Busboy's and Poets.
wawa. It’s tempting lol. I decided I’m going to go stab things. I reserve the right to hijack the TV in the club and stream whatever coverage I can find on peacock. 🤣 Side note - never mind. Too identifying. I’ll PM you.

A number of people complemented me on bringing my daughter, including the female democrat Secretary of State, who was just visiting polls. While, yes civics lesson and girl power, thank you for noticing. But also, childcare crisis. The kid has been with me since 10 minutes before I technically get out of work. Like every day.
Apparently we are flipping between election results, cartoons (semi applicable episodes about voting from the Simpsons and King of the Hill) and SNL skits. Meanwhile I'm drinking too much vodka and we all ate too much popcorn.
