In WA Bob Ferguson won Governor. He sued the previous đ administration almost 100 times as AG. Nick Brown won as the first black WA state AG, he is a former U.S. Attorney, who was also on the 2nd Season of Survivor and came in 7th place. They already have big plans for protecting the state from any Federal fuckery.
PDQ this part. Nick Brown went to my high school, graduated with my sis and he was my 6th grade camp counselor. Itâs been so exciting watching him achieve all his career goals like we always knew he would!
For my city/ state the local candidate I was supporting lost her election for Superintendent. She was running against an R incumbent that had way more campaign money and totally did shady things and lied in his campaign materials. Our blue neighborhoods were rezoned with a huge rural part of our county so they voted a little more red đ They finally put term limits on the position though so itâs his last term.
Michigan Dems lost the majority in our state house. We still have a Whitmer and a majority in the state senate. I hope Whitmer has a plan/can get it implemented to provide some protection against the federal government.
Our congressional district is still really tight, but Iâm confident the incumbent democrat will hold on to it. While thereâs another 30% of the vote to count, more of the vote has been counted in republican-leaning Orange County than in democrat-leaning north San Diego county (where I live). So I think Levinâs lead will widen and weâll hold on to that seat.
I don't live in NC anymore, but still follow politics there. Josh Stein won the governorship, which was expected in the last couple of months. NC is ok with you if all you do is commit felonies, assault women, praise dictators, and take away rights, but if you post on a porn website, especially about transgender porn, well then they'll even elect a Jewish person!! Also, NC broke the super majority, which is huge. Cooper did all he could to limit the impact of the crap the state legislature tried to enact, but with the supermajority, there wasn't a lot he could do. Hopefully Josh Stein can hold the line.
Closer to home for me, I'm thrilled that Andy Kim won the senate seat. I know campaigns don't always represent reality, but he just seems like a good normal person.

Wisconsin managed to keep our Democratic Senator, Tammy Baldwin, by the skin of our teeth. We broke the GOP supermajority in our state senate, too.

This is waaaaaay downballot but I'm super happy about it--our city passed a school funding referendum that specifically funds the construction of a new elementary and middle school for my kid. I'm so happy! All the kids are really excited.
stuffandthings we also got local school funding passed. We have one dark side person who got elected to the school board, but honestly we are so liberal/teachers union leaning that I donât know that a tiny bit of other opinions will be a bad thing. I am a big supporter of teachers unions but I think diversity of thought to a certain extent is a good thing.
Although people are also complaining a lot about the cost of gas and groceries in CA, our low voter turnout meant a higher amount of red votes for the âeconomyâ reason. However, my ballot measure to increase minimum wage from $17 to $18 / hr did not pass. đ¤ Guess the people making a little more than that and struggling to pay for rent and food think thatâs enough for the poorest workers to pay for rent and food⌠or is it the richer business owners who donât want to pay them a living wage? Keep in mind itâs HCOL. Honestly I get it, when it comes to small businesses it can be a struggle. They already passed some increases for large fast food chains. My DH works for a large business in the county that is technically in its own small city and has the most wealthy clientele in SoCal, theyâve doubled what theyâve charged the past 4 years and still pay the majority of their employees the bare minimum and donât even keep up with the main city minimum wage.

My experience with things like this is itâs the boot strap people. If you donât want to be poor work harder/go to college and get a better job!!! And then when they have to wait in line at a store because they donât have enough minimum wage help it turns into âno one wants to work anymoreâ
