(If anyone ever needs help getting care for themselves or a loved one please message me and then we can move the discussion to Signal. Know that there are always options.)
Ok all the resources in the abortion support resources post are still valid. But I wanted to make a separate specifically for direct action/donating money specifically for abortion care and gender affirming care. So please put your money where you mouth is and DONATE. If you donated to the Harris campaign donate at least that amount, if not more, to one or several of the resources below. Many of us/these orgs and activists have been prepared for this for YEARS. We are continuing to learn from other countries where abortion and gender affirming care care are completely banned and have been that way. We are not going anywhere. Mutual aid and community care will continue to keep us safe.
People in all states are able to get pills by mail. There are medical providers mailing pills to all states, often for free. There are also community support organizations mailing pills to people for free. Obviously none of this is actually "free" and these organizations need all the dollars they can get. There is also a large ecosystem of medical, legal and emotional support that is supporting people who are self-managing their abortions at home. So here is a list of orgs that you can visit their websites to learn more about them and most importantly donate to them so that they can DIRECTLY provide abortion care to people (as opposed to donating to planned parenthood where the money doesn't go to direct care).
These places are mailing pills to people in severely restricted and banned states:
To find your local abortion fund (funds the procedure) and practical support organization (funds traveling) - abortionfunds.org/ and apiaryps.org/
Other orgs that are supporting people who are having abortions and self-managing, specifically in banned states: Provides free medical information staffed by volunteer medical providers - mahotline.org/ Provides free emotional support - reprocare.com/ Provides free abortion doulas and herbal support - www.holisticabortions.com/ Provides free legal support and bail to people who have been put in jail - www.reprolegalhelpline.org/
Trans/Gender Affirming care info -
For those that don't know, gender affirming care is banned in several states for minors. People are relocating. Just like abortion care, people have been and will continue to self manage their gender affirming care.
These are organizations that are providing direct support to people to either get their gender affirming care or relocate

Thank you for sharing. Also, some large nonprofits like the one I work for have made a shift to offering paid travel to states that offer abortion care or gender affirming care if the state that they live in prohibits it. Check your benefits page to see if yours does. 💙
Thank you! We donate to, and participate with, a local organization providing gender affirming care but it’s great to learn of National orgs, too.
(Right now that is our family giving focus - keeping those doors open and services going. Three other local nonprofits that work with LGBTQ/Trans folks lost their grants and funding in the past few years and folded.)
Btw, I’m making donations rto these groups in the names of people I know who voted for Trump. Just sharing the idea.
please don’t.
I’m assuming you are doing so in a way that will get back to those individuals (putting in their email or whatever). orgs that provide this kind of care don’t need any more attention from the hateful people trying to shut them down. Help them stay safe.
I donate monthly to a local abortion fund in my state where abortion rights are in our constitution. Would I be better off donating to a fund in a state without these rights? Or continue donating locally knowing patients may need to travel?
I also wanted to add that I donate through my employer and they match my donation. Check to see if your employer offers this same or similar program.

It is totally unnecessary to do that. I don’t really see the point and could be dangerous. Just donate in your name and join orgs mailing lists in your name. Some groups also vet who is donating for safety purposes. Don’t put people at risk.

Either is fine. People often have to put together a patch work of funds to get care so they will often use both type of funds. If you have extra funds consider donating to 1 of the other orgs like an org that mails pills to people in banned states or helping kids get gender affirming care.
I've been a supporter of Jane's Due Process since Texas has been Texas-ing for so long. Thanks for the reminder - I'm going to see how much I can bump up my monthly contribution.
A question I’m thinking through and you all would know if this is a good idea or pointless or what.
Plan B is FSA eligible. I have a ton of money left in my FSA this year. I was thinking I could buy some to have on hand if anyone needed some (in case it’s pulled from the market). But, when I think this through - who would I have it around for? What good would it do? Like, if I had teens that hung out in my basement, I’d totally put some in the basement bathroom, and they’d know it was there if needed. But I don’t. And you can’t donate medications. So yeah, this is a well intentioned idea with no practical use.
(Note, this was not intended to be in lieu of cash donations. Just me thinking through if I can use this fsa money for good. Tampons for the food bank it is)

I ordered Plan B to keep for dss’ girlfriend and our foreign exchange students, if it’s ever needed.

There is no need to stock up on plan b, much less so if you don’t even have anyone you need to give it to. People need plan b now so you can donate to organizations that need it as some orgs and activists will accept it. But the easiest thing is just to donate cash.
wanderingback, I live in Texas and have 2 teenagers (son and daughter). In your opinion, is it a bad idea to have abortion pills on hand just in case?
This is probably going to be a long winded answer haha-
I think the more people that talk about medication abortion and normalize it by doing things like have them in their med stash like we keep ibuprofen around the better. Medication abortion needs to be de-medacalized and normalized.
However, if you think you need to stock up on meds because you’re afraid of access disappearing overnight I personally don’t think that’s necessary.
If you’re someone in a domestic violence situation, or a minor with no adult support or an immigrant or someone else who is more "at risk" and would have difficulty accessing care or fear of violence or the police or deportation then I think in those situations it’s totally appropriate to stock up.
Otherwise I think for those of us who are more privileged we should put our money towards supporting people who need abortions now by donating that $150 to an organization that is currently sending pills to people for free.
I think talking to people in your life who are capable of getting pregnant to know their options is also very important and maybe be even more important than actually having the pills on hand.

That's super helpful and makes perfect sense! Thank you!
