We always had separate computers when I was married. We each came into our marriage with a desktop. I got a laptop for grad school just before we got married and he preferred using his desktop. He got a new desktop around when he started grad school a couple years into our marriage and it was still working fine when he moved out, during that same time I replaced my laptop and didn't really use the desktop. I can't remember any time we shared.
DD will probably need a laptop at some point, I have no intention of sharing with her either.

We each have our own. For many years I didn’t have my own and just used my iPad, but when I went back to school last year I needed a laptop for that. I rarely use it now that I’m not in school or working, but occlude it.
H has a desktop that’s meant for gaming because he loves gaming. I’ve never once used it, but the kids often do for gaming (they all have school provided Chromebooks for schoolwork).

We each have our own laptops (and tablets). H uses his laptops (yes he has multiple for some reason) rarely. I use mine all the time. I can’t do anything personal on my work laptop so my personal laptop sits on my desk for when I need to use it throughout the day.
Could you buy him something like a Chromebook for job/hobby stuff? With Early Black Friday sales, they are as low as $120. or a non-Chromebook for about $350.

We share a home desktop, but I use my phone majority of the time for things I need, he has a work computer that uses, so the only conflict is us scheduling time around the time our kids are on the computer.

We each have our own laptops.
Pretty sure we would be divorced if we shared computers. We just have completely different organizational methods and our track pad settings are completely different, he screams every time he tries to help me with something on my computer.
We don’t have a home computer. We both have work laptops that we also use for personal use (we have both been with our separate small private firms 16+ years and are partners/part owners in the firms, so we are comfortable with it even though I’m sure it would be best practice to keep work and personal separate).
DD is in middle school and has a Chromebook through school, and then all my kids have their own iPad/tablet.
No. I have a work laptop that I use purely for work. I also have a laptop that I use for home budgeting, planning, recipes etc. My H has a personal laptop that he can toggle to work with a VPN.

We have separate laptops that are ours to use separately and I have a work from home laptop. Before he was laid off, he also had a work from home laptop. He works in IT so there is no way we'd be able to share laptops or computers as he's always on it doing something - even now, he's either applying for jobs, learning news skills and also enjoying watching stuff. We rarely watch tv, unless it's for sports or we're watching one or two shows together. We tend to stream our own shows to our laptops at night.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

We have separate profiles! So we use the same computer but log in to our own profile and settings. We also have very different organizational methods :-)
Thanks. I can’t access email or any file sharing on my work computer. This morning I wanted to update our budget spreadsheet , research birthday gifts for my dd, and update my health insurance. Not easy on my phone. He wanted to do hobby stuff (buy and sell hockey cards). He definitely has preference for job related stuff! We are not used to having to share!
For stuff like this, maybe set a time limit - like you can do your thing for an hour, and then he does his thing for an hour.
ETA: We share a home laptop. We each *can* do personal things on our work laptops but choose not to. But we use our phones for most "farting around on the internet" stuff, but we do each use the laptop for tasks like you listed above. I guess, we're just not on the laptop for that long when we do these tasks - I think part of it is that we're both on computers 8 hours a day during the workweek, so honestly, being on a laptop in the evenings or on weekends isn't even that appealing. I'd say most weekends, we, combined, use the laptop for a couple of hours at most.
I said no, but I kind of don't have a home computer right now. I've just used some combo of my work laptop with my phone and iPad. I rarely need to do anything that requires an actual computer that isn't work related, so there hasn't been a need for my own computer.
My H plays a lot of video games so he does have his own. I doubt he would mind if I used it if I needed to, but so far there has been no need.

I said something else because I don't have an SO. I'm not even sure if I actually have a working laptop. I 'had' a laptop at some point, but I don't even know where it is. It was a piece of junk anyway. My kids both have school issued Chromebooks and I just use my work laptop for anything that I need to do, which is rare.
We used to have a home computer then I had a personal laptop. I rarely used the computer. I can’t remember when that computer died. Ever since Covid, DH has been WFH and uses his work laptop for almost everything but on occasion uses my laptop.

We each have our own desktops or laptops for personal use, my husband games so sharing a computer wouldnt work for us. I use my work laptop for a bunch of stuff but I work at a small startup that doesnt really mind you using your work computer for personal.
We have a "family" laptop that is really just used by MH and me. MH uses it way more often than I do, but I use it as needed. Most of my personal internet usage is on my phone or my iPad.
We each have a work laptop as well.
My teens have their own laptops. DD2 has a school issued laptop for that work. DD3 is only 9 so she has her iPad and school issued laptop only.
