I host every year and like adding at least one new dish to try. Normally I do something with Sweet Potatoes, but I think this year I'm going to do something with Butternut Squash instead.
So, what is your full menu? From apps through to dessert and drinks?
I think I'll list our Friendsgiving menu since that's what we host. Some of these things are brought by others, but a lot of it, I make.
Drink: - Usually some kind of apple cider sangria
Appetizer: - I'm taking suggestions on this, last year we did a white cheddar cranberry dip that was yummy, but did not all get eaten and was not really attractive as leftovers. I may just do some ranch pretzels and olives or some other easy snacky item.
Entree: - Turkey (Lazy Genius recipe) - Mashed potatoes - Stuffing balls - Cranberry sauce (the recipe off the bag of cranberries, and I'll get canned as well) - brussel sprouts with bacon - corn pudding - rolls - possibly another veggie side if I feel like it
Dessert: - Pumpkin pie - Pumpkin roll - Apple pie
We go to actual Thanksgiving out of town and don't host, but I always make pumpkin pie and creamed onions (polarizing dish but I like them and my grandma always had them so I continue to make them, as it's super easy). We have most of the traditional foods there; pies are pumpkin, pecan, berry, and lemon meringue.
My aunt cooks the most perfect meal and I’m grateful with each year it continues. This has been the way since I was a kid, despite a few years when my dad was sick when I cooked for us. I just bring copious amounts of good champagne/wine, and my award winning personality. 😂
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

We do a friendsgiving in Whistler every year with a few other families. So our meal varies a bit but in general it's:
Drink: Double magnum of wine from Costco Honey Badger or Bert Reynold shots at après (usually the guys go back early to start cooking while the ladies ski and then do après to celebrate our friend's birthday)
Appetizer: We usually skip this. In the past it's resulted in eating too much appetizer and hardly any dinner.
Entree: Turkey Ham Smoked Salmon Mashed Potatoes Stuffing Green Beans Green salad Sweet Potato casserole Rosemary sea salt rolls cranberry sauce (both homemade and from the can)
Dessert: Pumpkin Pie Apple Pie Nanaimo Bars Ice Cream

I host, but it's just my parents, me and DD so I don't make a huge amount of food. My parents stay with me starting on Tuesday or Wednesday, so mom usually helps me cook. We snack throughout the day while cooking. I generally make this menu with some small variations.
Daytime snacks: Acorn squash soup, I usually make this the night before and we have a bowl at some point during the day Cranberry nut bread Antipasto available throughout the day
Dinner: Turkey Gravy Stuffing Garlic mashed red potatoes Some sort of roasted veggie- I like to roast a combo of sweet potatoes, butternut squash, parsnips and carrots. My dad doesn't like sweet potatoes so sometimes I leave them out or do them separately. Cranberry sauce from a jar Pillsbury crescent rolls
Dessert: Pumpkin pie Apple or pecan pie since Mom and I don't like the pumpkin. Sometimes I just get us ice cream for dessert.

I'm not hosting, my cousin is, but I'm in charge of the stuffing. I'm making this, which I made when I hosted last year and apparently should have made more because there wasn't a crumb left! pin.it/hDht1mlZc

When I used to entertain:
Turkey Mashed potatoes Sweet potato and cranberry casserole Seafood stuffing Traditional stuffing Gravy Peas and carrots Corn Jello mold (a joke because there's a very specific recipe that my H likes) Rolls
Desserts: Pumpkin pie & apple pie
For apps, when I was entertaining, I would get a couple of fruit and veggie trays and some shrimp & cocktail sauce. When we lived in FL it would be stone crabs instead of shrimp, and a key lime pie in addition for dessert.
A lot of times people would offer to bring either apps or dessert, so I would adjust accordingly.
Menu is a lot smaller now with usually only the 4 of us, lol.
Dessert: pumpkin pie w/ pumpkin pie spice whipped cream (from a can), pecan pie
Drinks: whatever the hell you can find (pretty much a full liquor bar, seltzers, beer, soda, wine, water). I might try to do a cran Paloma this year w/ tajin (sp?) on the rim (I don't really drink anymore, would probably drink 1/2 of it and dump the rest, lol)
I am hosting and we will have 10 people total with 6 adults and 4 kids ranging from 6-9 years old.
Apps: Baked Brie with Apples/Cranberries, Barefoot Contest Rosemary Nuts, Veggie Platter and Shrimp Cocktail
Entrees: Smoked Turkey (we make it outside on our Trager), mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, sweet potato au gratin, sautéed green beans, debating between crispy Brussel sprouts or a harvest salad as the second green veggie, roasted carrots, gravy, cranberry sauce (both the good homemade kind and the canned kind for my FIL), homemade parker house rolls and crescent rolls.
Dessert: Carrot Cake with a Salted Caramel top (ordered, not making this), Chocolate Chip cookie pie and vanilla ice cream.
DH is working on the signature drink, likely some sort of old fashioned then we will have wine as well.
I have debated back and forth on adding Mac and cheese for the kids but I think I am leaving it out, we will have plenty of other food.

I don't host, MIL hasn't relinquished that duty yet. Our meal isn't that traditional besides the turkey. Sil and her family will bring an app and a side that is unknown till we get there. I bring an app and side too and change it up thos year.
This year I am bringing a brie and cranberry pull apart loaf for my app. There is always charcuterie, veggies and ranch, and chips and dip.
Turkey, pasta alio e olio, corn, rolls, homemade cranberry chutney, and a spicy mashed sweet potato are the main meal staples. This year I'm bringing chicken sausage and roast veggies (broccoli, sweet potato, peppers, and onions) as my side.
Dessert is usually whatever mil orders. I make a pumpkin pie to have at home because it's my fav but no one else (other than my kids) eat it.
If we have a ham in addition to the turkey, we have pineapple casserole. It is the most 60s mishmash of nonsense ingredients but it is so good with ham and we all have a laugh at remembering how horrified my grandmother was the first time my mom made it.
I’m hosting this year and just starting to think about the menu. We have a good number of vegetarians, so my husband will make a rice dish and I won’t cook a huge turkey. I will buy all the pies.
Drinks: Beer & Wine (I do love the idea someone posted about a fall sangria)
