It's a rainy dreary day - thankfully it's my WFH day so I'm in my comfy chair and have a fire in the fireplace. I'm proud of myself that I actually still took a walk today, just used an umbrella. A few months ago I would have used the rain as an excuse to skip it. Not sure I'll reach my step goal today but hopefully I can get a bit closer when kid is at dance class this evening.
We're in the middle of assembling a dresser that we got on our latest pallet purchase and it's taking up too much space right now. We discovered that some of the drawer tracks were bent so we had to stop and get some new ones. Hopefully we can finish it tonight. We have a similar one that was on the same pallet but it had no hardware in the box so we ordered some that we think will work, fingers crossed it does! This pallet has already paid for itself so now we're into profit funds so I want to sell it!
I hired a new dog walker over the weekend and yesterday was her first day. She forgot to come. Girl. I’m traveling for work and when I realized I never got a rover report card hours after I should have I reached out and she went over. But ugh, my poor boy.
I’m on flight home from Houston right now. Last night I took a bunch of energy exec clients to a Houston Rockets game. Thankfully there was minimal election related talk, which was nice. I was fully expecting gleeful discussions on how Trump was going to roll back regs but there were only a few offhand comments.
Ugh I'm jealous. I had a work dinner last night, mostly Texas and Wisconsin people. One of the dude bro consultants brought up politics. It started with his observation of who ordered white wine vs red wine. One section of the table was lots of red wine, and someone made a remark about being "red through and through, including election voting". Then they took it down the rest of the table and asked everyone to compare their presidential election vote to their wine selection to see how we split.
It was nine red vs my one blue vote. I was the last to be asked, and was trying to think of a graceful way to bow out of answering. But then I figured, fuck those dudes - I'm never going to be embarrassed to admit to voting for Harris.
The discussion did confirm my new boss is unfortunately a Trumper. It also confirmed I'm not into the wine and dine, shmoozefest lifestyle. I rather be home in my pajamas than making polite conversation with people I'm never seeing again.
Ugh that’s brutal and so gross. Good for you for answering.
I also don’t love schmoozing. The game was a good distraction - whenever I was tapped out with shop talk I’d pretend to be really into the game lol.
Gah, I just posted above that I was hopeful for a chill weekend and I got a text from my mom saying "oh, if you guys want to come up and visit your dad this weekend you can!" He had shoulder surgery on Election Day. We visited him the weekend prior to wish him good luck but it didn't really occur to me that I'd need to come up again. They're 45 minutes away, and I'm going to see them for holiday stuff soon enough, so I just didn't think about it. He's doing fine and just chilling at the house. IDK if I should feel bad if that just doesn't work for us this weekend or if I should just suck it up and go. (Ultimately I'll probably go. Just a little annoyed at being told how to spend my time, lol.)
I live in a red region of an otherwise very blue state. Despite not being registered R, I got a lot of texts asking for support for R candidates. I saved them all and when I'm having a rough day or just generally pissed off about something, I text them back letting them know what POS they are. I realize the texts are auto-generated, but it is a good way to let off steam and anger.

How many pizzas - 25 teens (15 middle school, 5-10 high school)? I am only doing cheese. The high school hockey team is going to go to a middle school game and then do pizza after with the team. Hoping to do papa ginos extra large pizzas.
I learned a new word/concept today and it’s been on my mind. Hygge pronounced hyoo-gah is a Danish and Norwegian word for coziness, or comfort. Think hot cocoa, warm cozy socks, favorite flannel PJs, fireplace on, smelly autumn candles, dinner in a crockpot and bread in the bread maker.
Finally, a word to describe all the things I strive for

It’s a nice concept! But it’s pronounced more like heu-gah.

I would do 7. Also, where are you that Papa Gino’s still exists?! I love Papa Gino’s and I thought they only existed at rest stops in the Mass Pike these days.

The one in Foxboro is still open. I am not a huge fan, but it’s right down the street from the rink

I keep thinking they're out of business, too. But, there's one still in business in central MA that I pass when I visit my parents. Every time I drive by I'm surprised it's still there! My mom and I would get dinner there after dance class when I was a kid.

I was going to say 10 for a standard large (I'm not familiar with XL pizza sizing!) I'm also blanking on middle school eaters. For David's robotics meets, I send 8 large pizzas/15 boys and there's never any left. No matter how much food I send it all gets ate, lol.

We just got back from our first Disney trip (none of us had ever been). We surprised A when we woke him up for the airport and had just the cutest, best time. He is the perfect age and we did 2 park days (AK and MK) + a night at the Christmas party. Literal best time we've had in years and we got so many cute family pictures. It was quick (3 days) and I didn't let any of the crazy planners overwhelm me and we just loved it. I cannot wait to take him back ❤️

Is it a meal time? Will there be any other food?
If it’s a meal time, I’d estimate 2-3 slices per kid which gives me 8-9 pizzas (assuming 8 slices per pie). DD1 is only 9 and she can easily eat 3 slices of cheese pizza.

I was going to say 10 as well unless there are more cuts in an XL than a large (around me the XL has the same number of slices, they're just bigger. But kids are then likely to take a 2nd piece and not finish it).

I went for a GI consult prior to colonoscopy, endoscopy, and hemorrhoid removal. We’ll sonofabitch, apparently they had planned to do the last part today. So, I thought we just talked through everything and he reviewed the thing he was going to use. And then I had what I thought was an exam, but was him banding them! Omg! I didn’t even feel the first one, but fuck yes I did on the second one! He called me in tramadol and DH will be picking that up from the pharmacy that actually has it in stock in an hour. Tomorrow at work should be interesting!!! 🤣😂
Overall though, I was very pleased with the visit. Looking back, what the nurse was saying to me was consent for the procedure, I was just too nervous to listen proper. Lol. And I have my other procedure mid December, so that will be good. Man, I feel like such a dope though! Haha

Wait. Have you never seen Frozen??
Wait to my wait. Is that only in the musical?!
That is my favorite song in the musical! The kids in my kid's show had a great time with that one.
