Feds: Shutdown Chatter?

Anybody heard chatter about what might happen budget-wise between December 20th and January 20th?

Honestly, of all the everything going on, the months between Dec 20 and Jan 20 is the least of my concerns.

Did you mean to sound so cavalier? I realize there’s A LOT of big picture stuff going on, but the impact on literally thousands of federal employees’ household budgets is pretty significant.

Hi there, I am one with over 23 years of service. And yes, between the massive threat to my job long term, really Dec 20 is barely on my radar. Schedule F is. Firing 75% of the government is. Edit: Vivek’s “plan” to fire half the feds by ssn, starting with odd last digits and another half with even first digits. Yes, that’s me in both. How about schedule F? Also me, long term GSer currently in a scientific policy adjacent position.

I recommend heading over to r/fednews to read more about all the horrible things coming down the pipe for feds. But I do want to apologize. We are all very testy right now. I am sorry that came out cavalier. But honestly, yes, I do think we will get shut down for a month. We will get one normal paycheck during that time (for work through Dec 20, paid in time). The next will be delayed, but will come since the 2019 shutdown passed a law guaranteeing us backpay. The timing sucks, but given the number of shutdowns since 2007, if you are a fed, you do need to save and be prepared. And it sucks big time for many many people.

We should be able to talk about other bullshit too! It is not unusual for this board to discuss impending shutdowns. People in here are sometimes a bit closer to the action that further flung out feds and the info is helpful.

I'm hoping for another CR, but maybe not. For once I'm not at use or lose from vacations earlier in the year at least.
