Gift buying timing

This year I need to buy a few technology gifts - an Apple watch, Apple airpods, and a Kindle. Should I wait to see if there are Black Friday deals? I feel like the Apple stuff never goes on sale. But maybe the kindle will. Any tips?

The best deal I've found for AirPods is Amazon for $189. I bought them for David last October. Then recently H needed a pair right away and Costco has them for $199.

I don’t know what kohls currently carries but I have bought a kindle fire and Apple Watch there on Black Friday in years past because you get the Kohls cash for them.

I feel like the sales frequently get a little better for Black Friday. Sometimes they get even better for Cyber Monday.

I also need to buy random tech stuff (earbuds and a Kindle). Target has some sales going right now, so I might pull the trigger on the earbuds today. I'm really hoping for a Kindle sale for black Friday.

Definitely check out a site like BlackFriday.com, they put up the BF ads from various retailers so you might be able to get a good idea if any of the items you are looking for will be on sale.

Just putting this reminder that World Market is a great place for stocking stuffers! And, for gifts obviously, but I was there last week and ended up buying 90% of my SS.

Not sure what kind of Kindle you are looking for, but target just put the paper white on sale! I'll probably be buying that today since I'm not sure if the sale will get better.

I got AirPod pros (2nd gen) last year for $169 which was the best price I had found. I ordered them from Walmart on Thanksgiving. If you are waiting for Black Friday deals make sure to look on Thanksgiving as some places will put their sales up online early. Based on history of price and what I had seen recently I was confident the price I got was going to be the best so I ordered rather than wait till Black Friday or cyber Monday.

Apple Watches will have sales for BF but I think it’s usually older models if that matters. If there’s something like this that I want I usually search back to last years BF ads to see what they put on sale.or see if I can find the upcoming BF ads. A lot of times you can find them early.

Kindle - I think Amazon has their BF deals up. I feel like their kindle deals are generally the same for their sales but again could try to search up if they had better deals any other time last year.

You can always check on return policies and price matching too in case you buy now (or later) and there ends up being a better sale.

Also places like Homegoods! I was there browsing earlier this week and they have so many cute, random things. Bedazzled Stanley-style mugs, all kinds of interesting sauces/jams/candies/dry good-type foods, all sorts of interesting one-offs. 

I got a Sand + Fog candle for $8, normally they're like $20+. And some Starbucks-brand hot chocolate.

I ended up going ahead and buying it all. The Apple Watch I wanted (didn’t care about older model but needed to be SE GPS + cellular) dropped to $219 on Amazon. I bought the AirPods Pro for $159.99 that luckystar2 recommended and also bought the kindle paperwhite for $129.99 from target since that was the same as the Amazon price but then I got the target 5% discount too (thanks pandorica)!

So it was an expensive day but I’m glad to have gotten that done and feel like they were pretty decent deals.

DANG! That's an awesome deal on the AirPods! I almost want to buy a back-up pair now, just in case.

Thank you for this thread. I had looked at prices for both Samsung galaxy watches and pixel buds pros for my kids last week and determined they were too expensive for Christmas this year along with what they were already getting, but they are both on sale already, so I went ahead and got them. Who knows if they will be on MORE sale for Black Friday, but at least they are done already!

The watches will probably actually be given to the inlaws to be their gifts to the kids from them (they will pay me for them), but they haven't even asked for ideas for the kids yet!
