The simmering feelings of endless rage and annoyance that I am pretty good at suppressing most of the year are starting to come to a rolling boil.
Yesterday FedEx mixed up deliveries in my ‘hood and I ended up with a FREAKING 3D PRINTER. I was expecting a plastic floor mat for under an office chair. lol. I went to the house that was supposed to get the printer and left a note. I didn’t want to leave the package there bc it was supposed to rain and plus also it’s $$$. When I got home I got a photo “my item has been delivered” but it wasn’t my house.
I have no idea how many people are coming to Thanksgiving and the only food I have is turkey, gravy, and pumpkin puree. My mom and I are tackling the big shop sometime this weekend because she said she would buy the ham and my uncle gave her money to help pay for food because he's like "they always host." Which is sweet.
So it could be 9, it could be 7, it could be 10, 11? No clue.

This happened in my neighborhood all the time! It's so frustrating, especially when we have the community mailboxes and the post carrier gives you the wrong key to get the bigger packages.

I ordered a new carpet cleaner that is supposed to arrive today. My area rugs are nasty so I really want to try and clean them up instead of replacing. I bought plastic tarps to put underneath them for cleaning so that I don't ruin my floors. I really hope this works.

I'm done with work at noon today until Dec 2nd. It always feels weird when something you've planned for so long is finally here. We're both excited and not really any nerves. The only thing that is worrying us is actually the same for both of us, that the other person will change once we get married. That happened to both of us during our last marriages. Pretty much the second I got married last time ExH changed and it was terrible. FI and I have talked about that extensively and I think we're good.

Have a wonderful time followyourarrow, and I hope you'll share a picture or two!
Today is my last full day of work because I always only work half days on Fridays. I'll miss people, but yoo-freaking-hoo to being done with the dysfunction and stress.

I fell asleep for about 3 hours last night, woke up and was up for 3 hours before I could fall back asleep. By then, my husband was getting up for work. I am definitely putting a nap on my work calendar for today.
I'm trying to make a grocery list (Wegmans and the local butcher) and Aldi pickup so I can go to the store today and/or tomorrow and hopefully not deal with the chaos next week. I have to get stuff for Friendsgiving on Saturday (mac & cheese, caramel apple trifle), Thanksgiving contributions (rolls, cranberry sauce, pie- flavor TBD) and stuff for dinner through next Tuesday (Wednesday before Tday we always do takeout) Before doing any shopping, I really need to clean out the fridge. Somehow condiments multiply, I swear. LOL
One of my friends (not close friend lol) got suspended with pay from her job yesterday and is likely going to be fired (because she was already on a final written warning, apparently) for “inappropriate comments” and she sent us screen shots of an email she sent to HR in response and the things she admits to talking about with coworkers (comments about Brazilian waxes) are absolutely blowing my mind lol

Yay emilyinchile! Do you have any time off before your next job? If so enjoy!
It's low 30s here today. Woke up to big flakes coming down, but nothing really stuck. We are to get another bigger wave this afternoon. I'm volunteering at my alma mater for an event today and hope I can make it home before it gets bad. Traveling on a winding road is not good today. Will definitely turn on the fireplace tonight and having soup for dinner.
This is the most expensive time of year (obviously, but it always catches me by surprise). I need to buy a Kindle, earbuds, kids tablet, and some random other stuff while they are on sale just to replace things that are old/broken. I wish H would just let me tell him what to buy me for Christmas so these could be gifts, but he insists on getting me surprise things! While thoughtful, my bank account weeps.
DS is home sick today with a cold, I can't wait to bring him to the ENT next year as soon as our new health insurance kicks in. I have always suspected he needs his adenoids removed, but my company switched to high deductible plans when he was born and our OOP deductible is insanely high despite our premiums also being high. Basically we have been paying for insurance we are afraid to use.
I love dogs but one of our neighbors has a beagle and I am not a fan. They are 5 houses down and my windows are closed and I can hear it howling like it’s in my backyard.
They leave it out for large chunks of time and the houses back up to a park, so anytime anyone or anything is in the park the dog goes nuts.
I hear you pandorica . My family has November and December birthday in addition to TDay and Christmas. It's a lot. It was worse when H and I were first married. We had to also buy tabs for our car and pay 6 months worth of car insurance at once in December.
TR is your friend shocked those were not appropriate topics? Are friends responding telling her she was out of line?
The others weren’t discussing it, she brought it up and was asking for referrals and explaining why she didn’t want to do x,y,x and all.
Yes, we’ve all responded basically with “Wow, that’s a hard thing to deal with but you can’t say that stuff at work. Just because you talked about Botox with someone doesn’t mean they want to hear about how painful you find Brazilian waxes because you “have Jewish heritage and dark, thick hair follicles” 😐 (quote taken from the email she sent HR)
I am so grateful for my work team. I was the lone employee in my department for 9months and it took a long time to hire and train everyone, but now we are in a groove. We're all remote and had never met in person until yesterday; everyone flew in and we did a live presentation that went really well and then went out to lunch and it felt like we'd known each other forever. Proof that teams don't need to work in the office to "collaborate" or "build community"!
I've been having a hard time since the election. I am definitely really angry, and um my kids have noticed. DH is trying to hold it together, especially when we are around them. They are teenagers (13 and 15) so they understand what's going on... but not really.
Yay emilyinchile ! Do you have any time off before your next job? If so enjoy!
I do, and thank you! I actually don't have a new job yet haha, but I want to finally make a run at setting up a nutrition coaching business (with a focus on overall health-promoting habits and helping people to feel empowered rather than being mean to themselves). My dad and stepmom are visiting right now and will be here for 2 more weeks, so my plan is to take those as vacation, then dedicate significant time each day to getting my thoughts organized into an actual business offering.
It's my fourth day in a row in the office and my patience with the general chatter, people (okay, one person who isn't even on my team) popping in constantly to ask random questions, and just generally having my public face on is wearing thin. WFH tomorrow, thankfully.
Not helped by the general feeling of impending doom with the new administration, lack of daylight, etc. Ugh.
I am less than a week into HRT and already feel significantly better. If this is how I feel after 5 days, I'm pretty stoked about how I might feel in a few months.
WHY DONT DOCTORS TALK ABOUT THIS MORE?
I didn't have some of the more widely known perimenopause symptoms like hot flashes or irregular periods, so I basically have just thought I was losing my mind for the past 4 years. I'm trying not to dwell on the years I spent miserable. I'm pretty happy to have some relief in sight.
I messaged my vet about renewing both cats' flea medications. My new cat needs seen there before they will prescribe her the medication (she previously went elsewhere) so they said I could bring in both cats for annual appointments (my older cat's was supposed to be in December so this will get both out of the way) and they will also do nail trims. Score! Now fingers crossed I can get both these bitches into carriers with little trouble lol. I will feel better having that all done. I'm sure it will be an expensive day though ugh.
