wildrice , we're doing a European river cruise down the Danube. We haven't been to Europe since pre-pandemic, so I'm super excited. Plus doing this means we'll see multiple cities in 4 countries. We're really looking forward to it!
Amazing! That sounds like it will be a fantastic trip - I hope you have a wonderful time!

Happy Friday! This has been the loooongest week. I somehow was able to save enough PTO to have 5 days off for Thanksgiving and I'm SO ready for a break.
I've never seen Wicked, nor Wizard of Oz for that matter (I know, I know, but I really have no desire), but I"m totally hooked on the Wicked soundtrack and will probably see it once the initial hype calms down. "Defying Gravity" is totally my song of this year, has me in tears at my desk right now. Thank goodness I WFH haha.
My daughter has her first loose tooth. Well, it has been a bit loose for MONTHS but it's finally almost ready to come out. She has been excited about it, until last night. Now she's freaked out and doesn't want anything to touch it. She almost refused to eat breakfast until I told her she could just eat everything with her back teeth. I really hope it comes out at school today (she wants her friends to see it) so we can get it out of the way and she'll realize it's not traumatizing!
Mine is on her third but in a parenting first the tooth started turning grey. I called the dentist and they said as long as it’s a baby tooth and already loose there is no need to be concerned. In the past 24 hours it has turned black. It is just hanging in there and she steadfastly refuses any help to pop it out but it looks so bad. She looked at herself after brushing her teeth this morning and said I’m glad picture day happened already. It’s her top front tooth so pretty noticeable. She’s home sick today and I really hope it comes out this weekend.

Whoa, I had no clue that could happen! Thanks for the heads up, that would have concerned me for sure.
The snow today was what I would consider conversational snow. That is, large. pretty flakes that don’t stick, but cause everyone to comment about the snow.
I was out and about in it. I had to run to this store that is only open by appointment, and when I made my appointment, you’d think they would have mentioned that they were out of stock for one of the two things I needed (you have to tell them what you are there for when you make the appointment). Great people, and it the only place in the US to get this brand, otherwise it’s shipping from the UK, and it’s 20 minutes away. But frustrating because you can’t just pop over there.
And I got my Covid shot! My first time with moderna. I’m hoping for a no whammy weekend, but my arm was already hurting as I drove home.
circa1978, if he doesn’t take to basketball or otherwise seems to lean individual sports - fencing (epee in particular) is something where that height will be a definite plus. And it’s also mostly short bursts of cardio.

The Instructional Assistant at my daughter's aftercare yanked her baby tooth out when it was hanging by a nasty thread. I'm eternally grateful that she did that!

Yea I would bet money that the school nurse would be able to get it out, but of course mom and dad can’t get anywhere near her mouth.

I love my cat. I didn’t want a cat. He complicates my life. But sometimes when I see him lying on my bed and acting like the lord of the household universe, I am so overwhelmed with joy that he has a home with people who love him and make sure he’s fed and happy and not living on the street infested with mites anymore.i wish all cats and dogs had homes and love.

We got snow Wednesday, yesterday, and today. This is so crazy! So early. Can’t remember snow this early in the 6 years I’ve been here.
I have been interviewing for a role I really want and I have the final presentation interview on Thursday. So this weekend I will need to prep and get ready for it. Really hoping it goes well! I need out of my job asap.

I’m taking my class to the University of Penn museum tomorrow. I have two great classes this semester. They’re so awesome and they participate and indulge my geekiness.
But I’m super annoyed with my sister. Both she and my mom are the type of people who say “let me know how I can help, I’m here for you, whatever you need,” etc. but it never fails- I asked her to watch the toddler while I go (H and David have plans and Luce wants to come with me) and OF COURSE she’s busy.
It’s not that I expect her to not go to Atlantic City so I can take my class to the museum. It’s just that every time I ask her, she’s got something. Every time! I guess just the building up of frustrations. And my mom can’t watch or even lift Joey up, that’s a whole separate thing. Mil and fil to the rescue again. Thank god for them.
We got hit with the PNW bomb cyclone, and are at 60 hours and counting without power. We thankfully have a generator so we're fine, just a little bored. But other things keep going awry.
My H is sick, because my SIL was here earlier this week with "allergies." And I think I might be coming down with whatever it is now too. Blech.
My MIL fell Tues night / Wednesday morning, and broke her wrist. It's a whole different shitshow, because my H and his sisters were getting ready to move her from one senior home to a different one, because the current one wasn't working out. She already didn't trust that place, and now she really doesn't after the fall because of how it was handled. She also might need surgery for the break, and getting the referral to Ortho is complicated by the ER she went to being different than her primary care / oncology care. And the extra care she'll need during her recovery is going to be costly. Getting old and being old really sucks.
I took my kids to the pedi for their flu shots after school. Then so they could see that shots are for everybody (parents included), we went to get my covid shot.
My flu shot and their covid shots were already done, so we're finished with the 2024-25 seasonal vaccine dramatics. Yayyyyyy!

I love that Museum. You used to be able to go for free if you were a Penn employee. I'd go on lunch breaks!
DD's tooth fell out! Thank dog, I'm glad that drama is over for now 😅 she was very excited. She also doesn't know anything about the tooth fairy, so I told her we could leave the tooth on the table (rather than under her pillow) and the fairy would pick it up there.

I did the same with DS. He leaves it on the island counter in the kitchen. So happy I'm not sneaking into his bedroom after he's asleep.

Yes! That seemed way too stressful. Plus I would probably forget hah

I forgot once. The tooth fairy supervisor wrote a letter apologizing that they were short staffed the previous night because his regular tooth fairy was on vacation, and the substitute got lost. It is one of his fondest memories. The next night the tooth fairy gave him an extra dollar for his troubles, too
Why is Ariana Grande's permanent facial expression during this Wicked publicity tour one of bravely holding back tears/vague fear?
Yes! Thank you-I have been trying to figure out what is going on with her face because she just looks perpetually….scared/hopeful? I can’t put a finger on it but it’s bugging me. I feel like her light eyebrows are in cahoots too?
Why is Ariana Grande's permanent facial expression during this Wicked publicity tour one of bravely holding back tears/vague fear?
I think this headline from Slate sums it up: "The Wicked Press Tour Is Exhibiting Unprecedented Levels of Theater-Kid Energy"
This is too funny because yes - so true!
I ended up on the Wicked side of TikTok and they are VERY serious about this movie and cry a lot talking about it. As a former theater kid I find it kind of endearing and it makes me want to see it even more.... But it's a lot.
Ariana looks weird right now. I think it's a combo of the hair color (and eyebrows), the way she is doing her eye makeup, and she is much thinner than usual too, which changes the shape of her face. I hope she is healthy - it doesn't really look like it.

I also think that the more she leans into that energy and her relationship with Cynthia Erivo, the less the focus is on how Ariana got together with Ethan Slater.
