Thanks everyone. That was definitely the hardest thing I've ever done or even thought about doing in my life. I have nothing but respect for all mommas. And I have a new limit and respect for my own personal pain threshold. If I can birth Sammy, I can do ANYTHING!
I have to keep reminding myself that. The past few days have been hard. I didn't factor in the recovery, but I'm in lots if pain, bleeding, it hurts to walk, sit, lay, my boobs are cracking, my milk is in which is good, but last night was cluster feeding and Dave and I are exhausted. I feel helpless not being able to care for myself. And the hemroids from pushing so hard. No one warned me about that. Fuck. I'm one big swollen mess down below. I can barely walk from the car to the doctor. It's been 3 days and I know I have to give it time. Today we have no apts so I'm going to try to stay in bed all day to recover and Dave or my inlaws can bring Sammy to me to nurse.
Sorry to ramble, it just helps to get my thoughts out. It's been one big emotional roller coaster. The biggest blessing is the bundle of joy that is sleeping so soundly now. Man it was a rough night.
And for those with twins.... Mad props. I can't even imagine coming home and having to care for two babinos. And yourself. This child birth- motherhood is intense. I cry just thinking about Sammy growing up. Dave keeps saying, "Samantha you are two perfect for this world." when we see something questionable like rude drivers getting out of their car to have road rage at someone behind them or homeless people drinking on the side of the road.
Oh, I think she has Dave's features but we are still undecided who she really looks like.

I remember a pic I put on Facebook when A was about Sammy's age. It was of her sleeping that said "she wears her angel face during the day and her devil horns at night. Today I sleep when baby sleeps. She won't break me". That's it. They have their days and nights confused. They like the sounds and vibrations during the day, it relaxes them. They've been listening to your heartbeat and fluid swishing for almost 10 months. They don't like quiet. I recommend a white noise machine (ever since we started with our white noise mine instantly turned into a much better sleeper) and until you learn each others languages and get days and nights figured out you just have to put your feet up during the day. It will make your nights so much more manageable. I was always amazed at what 1 hour of sleep could do for me.
What an experience you had, you are a tough cookie! Big congrats on having a natural birth with her. Loved seeing her eyes open. I can't wait to see more pics.
And yes, the hemorrhoids suck ass....kindof literally. At a birthing center do they give you the squeeze bottle, numbing foam and tucks? Those three things were my best friend for the first week or so.

Absolutely beautiful little girl you have and congrats on being able to go through with the birth you wanted. You're a strong woman!! Beautiful birth story. I definitely got teary eyed when Dave said that his whole world was in the tub. So sweet!!!

Quick healing vibes to you!
Yep. Get some tucks!
Oh, the tucks and prep h and I'm soaking pads in some herbal hooha and then freezing them and sitting on it. That is a very pleasant experience. Not.
I have to practice my breathing again to get through.
My new quote... I can do all things... Through childbirth.

He'll yeah you can. You've got this recovery, too! It's only been 3 days, I wasn't even released from the hospital yet in that time. Give yourself 2 weeks to keep your feet up and I'll bet you'll be itching to use that jogging stroller. But maybe wait 6 anyway K? ETA when you do a birth center delivery do you the standard 6 week follow up there or do you go to your GYN? How does that work?

I will get checked at the birth center I'm pretty sure.

Great job Carolyn! Please let us know if you need anything. I remember those first few days vividly, as tired as I was. It's so hard but so wonderful! Enjoy these days though, it's crazy how fast they grow!

Oh yeah, the recovery is the worst. The first week was pretty bad then slowly got better and I prettying felt healed by week 3. I had a second degree tear and a tear to my urethra.
I had to put an ice pack down there and sit on it. It felt like my insides were going to fall out when I would stand. It does get better, you will forget all about this stuff eventually.
You are awesome, mama! What an incredible story - you are one strong woman. Congratulations on your victory and an incredible natural birth. I'm in awe of you!
Samantha is an absolute doll. I know the beginning can be rough but take it an hour at a time and try to memorize everything because it will be a distant memory in no time. She's a sweetheart. Congratulations!
