I just love that there are older women here. IRL, I feel like we're the only people who don't have kids. We've put work and school first and we're ok with it.

Around where I live, people judge us because we don't have kids. I'm 22, my Husband is 26. And people are up in arms about "why don't you have kids yet?" Even though I'm young, I feel like people look at us like we're aging rapidly and therefore are losing out on time.
So I like knowing that there are women here, who are older, who are comfortable with being older and not having kids yet. It makes me feel normal and like it's perfectly okay to not already have kids by my age and to not have any at this exact moment.

Ohmygod no, you should not be having kids yet unless you personally want to really badly. Enjoy your own life and your life together AND the fact that you're allowed to drink for a little bit. You might not necessarily want to wait as long as is oldies, but really, you have more than enough time, so enjoy life a little!!

Oh don't get me wrong, we REALLY want them, we have for a long while now but we have the patience. Everyone else doesn't. lol.
Moonbeam where do you live?! 22 is young to be wondering where the babies are! I wasn't even done w college at that age (i was on the 5 year plan lol)
A teeny tiny town in PA. I also came from a teeny tiny town where most of my graduating class had children before they graduated.
It's rare to be 22 and not have kids around here. I mean, yes, there are a lot who don't but within our circle of friends/family, most had kids by our age.

I was just thinking this must be where you lived. Myself (and now sunflower as well!) were on the 5 ok, almost 6 year college plan so I was no where near thinking kids.
I never thought of kids in my 20's. We starting thinking about it when I hit 30. We all just take different paths.
Where I live, most people have kids when they are in teens/early 20s so we are definitely considered old for not having kids. Of course, I also hate where we live and don't care what anyone thinks
“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
It's so interesting to see what average ages are that people have kids in different areas. In the Netherlands the average age for the first child is 30 for women, 31 and a half for women with a Bachelor's Degree or higher. Oh, and no-one gets married young here either. Except for my 1 weird cousin (she's weird for all sorts of reasons, not just this), I don't know anyone who married before they were 27, most of them 30-32, or not at all.

I find this fascinating too! I'm from Ireland and my friends at home are only starting to get engaged/married now at 30-ish. Mid 30s is totally normal for parenthood there now. It seems people are generally younger in the States.

Where in South Texas are you? I'm in South-central Texas
