I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothryoid about 2 months ago. I just had a blood test yesterday. My TSH results were 1.71, down from 4.24. No wonder I feel better!
Thats awesome...I am pissed at my doctor and will be getting a new one bc guess what?
My TSH level was 5.63 and she will NOT treat me. I get tested every year bc my mom, sister and grandma all have hypothyrodisim (hasimotos) so its genetic. This was the first year I was above normal and my stupid new doctor will NOT fucking treat me! What the fuck? Sorry, I am pissed off!
Hey Joenali. Can you tell me HOW you feel better? I want to get treated but I also want to know what to look forward too. I heard with the meds you get a faster metabolism (hello, I would LUV that) since with hypothyroid you have a slower than normal metabolism. Thanks!
It almost took an act of god for me to get treated because my levels were "normal". I begged my doctor for an endocrinologist appointment and she did it.
At my endo appointment I was ready with everything. I even had a workout log to show him etc. After pleading my case he said it was definitley worth a try with medication.
Afternoons were killer for me, I was EXHAUSTED! Now I can make it through without feeling so foggy and drained.
I had trouble losing weight, I've lost some weight being on the meds.
I've seen the most improvements post-workout. For example, before meds I did what should have been a very easy swim workout. I went home and slept for 2 hours, not normal.
Now even after a hard workout I usually don't feel the need to collapse in bed.

Starry, how close are you to the med center? I have an amazing endo that I saw when I was pg with Marion who believes the "normal" levels need to be changed and is willing to treat you even if your numbers are normal. He's just outside 610 on Main

I am in clear lake but WILL travel. According to my doctor anything under 4.70 is normal. Most places think under 4 is normal. Mine is 5.63!!! AND I have family history of this! I need to be treated! I am tired and its hard to get thru running and the afternoon now.

Isn't the difference incredible! Mine went from 6.5 to 1.5 and it has been there for a few years. I just feel so much better!
