Out of curiosity, are jeans typical attire if you were tailgating for your college football game? Would this group look like people you'd see around campus?
(Don't get excited, I did a google search, I don't know these people )
(And no, I am in no way trying to push that silly dress, I'm just curious)
Greeks wore "pin wear" (for girls, essentially that's slutty business casual) to Homecoming.
But for regular games, I think whatever we would have worn bumming around campus that day so jeans and a sweater and such? It typically was cold or at least fall-like, football wasn't a huge thing, and none of us ever went into the games anyway (we would tailgate and then go home), so there was no reason to get dolled up.
I'm not a seasoned tailgater, but based on my few experiences, no one was dressed like that, at least no one I hung out with. I'm going to guess that those girls are (a) in the south and (b) in a sorority.
I'm thinking it must be a southern thing. These girls wear 4 in heels and walk miles around campus, regardless of the weather. It's bizarre.
We did that!
But not when we were going to be on a field for 4 hours.
I remember walking around in the dead of (Mid-Atlantic) winter in a skirt, tube-top, and heels (picture really ugly ones -- 1997-2001 were dark times), and no coat because the bars/frats had nowhere to put a coat.

That's more like youngins in tailgate wear - college or just post. I think adults who are tailgating and still want to look cute for a reunion wear more like this, but that's just me and I don't live in a place where it's 80-deg when tailgating.
or this
Without big purses and with something like the scarf the color of the team you're rooting for.
I was going to say that. I know people who went to UNC said the girls all dressed up for football games. I was all ^o). My experience with football has primarily been Big 10 and Big 12. There's always an exception, but most people just wear jeans and a team t-shirt or jersey.

My cousin took me to a UVA game where I sat on a grassy hill with girls dressed like this and some were standing the entire time in heels on the grassy hill. I don't know how they managed it.

yup. We'd literally run (in heels) to the bar down the street. I once fell on my ass in the snow. We were insane.
For tailgating-- jeans and a college tee (sweaters when it gets colder). I have a cute Victoria Secret PINK one (its actually red, ha) that I like to wear for Sept/Oct games. Once Nov/Dec hit, I rotate through my 4 hoodies/zip ups. lol
And no one at my university wears dresses to games. Sororities wear their letters in our school colors, or made up their own shirts specifically for games. For Homecoming, the sororities make up tees with the fraternity they are partnered with. My sorority is trying to get the alumni to buy them for this years. Ha. No thank you. They also may wear skirts with the tees/tanks, but never dressed like in the OP.
Just like the picture It's definitely an SEC thing. But no heels for us - always flip flops with dresses so you don't tumble down 90 rows in the stadium.
I went to school in Tampa - and I wouldn't be that shocked to see that at a game... but it woudln't be the norm - typically jeans/shorts + tank top is more common... but as someone who doesn't wear shorts - i'm all for a little sundress on a hot day - does'nt matter if i'm at a game or at the grocery store... so i'm not going to say anything bad about these whores... i mean girls (kiiiiddding)

This cracked me up. Well all of it really.
Ah, college. I definitely sported tube tops in the middle of February in MA because there was no place to keep my coat. I did get to cut a lot of lines because of that though.
I generally wear jeans or shorts, but it's not uncommon to see girls in dresses like this. They're actually probably more comfortable (although I'd have chubb rub, so...).

I never went to FB games, but I have friends who did and my younger sisters and their friends did. Here's a picture that more accurately depicts a University of Minnesota tailgating party:
