Hi! We are getting ready to TTC#3, but am currently trying to deal with some issues with my cycle. I'm 32 and have had long periods in the past, which is why I used bcp between my first and second pregnancies. Earlier this year my cycles shortened to about 21 days and my periods including days of spotting were about 14 days long. I saw my OB over the summer and an ultrasound showed a thicker than normal lining. We did a round of provera in hopes of shedding the extra lining and jump starting a normal cycle pattern. Two months later and my cycles have lengthened to 25 days, but my periods are still about 9 days long followed by a day of no flow, then 3-4 days of spotting/light bleeding. I have a follow up appt with my doctor this week to hopefully get some answers, and find out if this would affect TTC.
Has anyone had similar issues with their cycle? Were you able to correct it?
Haven't had this or know anyone with this specific issue, but would like to wish you good luck at the doctor! Hope (s)he will be able to figure out what's up and/or let you know that it won't be an issue while TTC.
I will chime in on a third round of good luck wishes and also add, FWIW, a good friend of mine had 26-28 day cycles (so a tad longer) and her periods lasted like two weeks They found something was off with her thyroid. She's on the pill and that fixed it, so obviously that wouldn't be a solution for you, but perhaps you can ask them to look into thyroid troubles of some kind and there would be other solutions??
I hope it goes smoothly, and fixes easily, whatever it ends up being.

Thanks for the well wishes and sharing your friend's story! I actually did have my thyroid checked a couple months ago and all was well with that. I have considered going back on the pill for a couple months to regulate things and then ttc after that. Thanks for the suggestions!
Off the top of my head, I don't have any suggestions but wonder if TCOYF might have some information that would help you.
Thanks for the suggestion! I read the book again this summer in hopes of getting some information. I didn't find anything then, but your post reminded me that I should check out their forums. Thanks for the suggestion!
