I don't know if it was a new episode, but I just watched the one where all the girls got waxed and Kate (I think that's her name?) picked out a bikini for a modeling photoshoot.

Now I've read several articles about how this show is fake, and that she had already live outside the Amish community (as explained in the first episode). But I noticed as she was trying on the bikinis in the store she clearly had a hole from where an navel ring used to be (or still was, just removed temporarily for the sake of the show).

This show had potential, but on course TLC had to muck it up with people "playing" Amish. TLC isn't soon a very good job at making it unconvincing.

I'm not enjoying this show at all. It's not very convincing, I read that Abe and Rebeca are married and have a child? Also, Kate is a "Kook"! Jeremiah loves the word "shunning", uses it all the time. Bad acting and bad writing. Come on TLC!!!! You can do better!

Yea, I also read they were married...there is a photo of them together with their baby BEFORE she had her own teeth pulled.
Jeremiah is divorced, has 3 kids and was arrested for domestic violence...he has a mug shot.
And Kate has drinking/drug problems.
SO disappointing....this show could have been something, but they fucked and faked it up.

I watch the show...and didn't know any of this...

I was just wondering after reading all this though if the producers of the show and TLC know the concept is interesting, but can't find any Amish who are actually in the transition process to participate on film: so instead they got this group to...basically participate and show...I don't know.. what it was like for them?


I have heard that it is pretty common for young members of the Amish communities to leave--test out life with the English and then make a choice..stay or go--but I'm not sure how common it is to video tape that experience you know?

I really don't even understand this show anymore. The timeline seems off, the storylines are weird. Abe is proposing to Rebecca after two weeks or something? Jeremiah is a cab drive who learned to drive yesterday?

Yes, yes, I know it's all fake but I just don't get what TLC was trying do with this show. Of course, it would come out that these people haven't been in the Amish community for a long time. TLC would HAVE to have known that.

lol, why do i get so invested in these stupid shows???!! I feel the same way about secret princes!!
