Would you stay in an ice hotel?

I just got a Groupon travel email with a deal for a one night stay in a hotel made of ice in Quebec.

It looks absolutely gorgeous. From the TripAdvisor reviews if you spend time in the hot tubs and then put on lots of long underwear, etc, and the sleeping bag it's not so bad. The one thing I couldn't figure out from the reviews is where one uses the bathroom during the night.

No. I'm not a fan of the cold, and having been to ice bars, I don't think I'd want to prolong that feeling.

I think they featured this on HGTV once. I had a friend who visited & toured it, but I don't believe he stayed there. It was cold, but he got some pretty awesome pics.

It sounds all nice and magical, but I don't think I would sleep very good in a sub-artic sleeping bag.

I'd take an ice hotel over a super-hot climate, no question.

I think ice hotels look amazing and it would be a very cool experience. That being said, I'm cold when it's 70 degrees. I don't think I would do well in an ice hotel overnight.

Ive been to visit that ice hotel 5 times but have never spent the night. They say that if you follow all their instructions you wont be cold. I would do it if somebody else paid but I'm cheap. The bathrooms are like port a potties just outside of the hotel. And fyi the fireplaces are fir visual and psychological effects only. The heat is all channelled outside so as not to melt anything in the room.

Not a chance. I hate being cold and why would I want to sleep in a sleeping bag instead of a bed? Does not sound comfortable.

ETA: An ice bar I could get behind though. Too bad there aren't any around me.

Based on what I've read, it's better to stay in the real hotel and visit the Ice Hotel during the day. You need a room at the main hotel anyway to keep your stuff and if you stay in the Ice Hotel you don't get to check in until pretty late and you have to be out early so that tourists can visit.

I could be wrong but I think younhave the option of sleeping in the next door real hotel when you book the ice room. Maybe.

I know a girl that had her wedding there. Her pictures were beautiful.

H and I like to travel and experience new things so we'd absolutely stay there.

I stayed at the one in Sweden (Kiruna) last year. There is a warm building next to the ice hotel that included a lounge to hang out in, assigned small private rooms to change and store your luggage, and bathrooms/showers. During the day the Ice Hotel was open for tours (various artists design and construct the unique rooms) and then you required a key to enter at night (IceBar was still open). It actually wasn't as cold as you would think and I slept well (they had to come wake us up as tour groups were going to come). The next night I slept in the normal part of the hotel (they recommend only one night in the Ice Hotel and it also was cheaper). It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it!

I think a tour would be awesome, but I don't think I would want to stay overnight.
