I believe her parents have made supportive statements publically. At least I think I've seen direct statements from them vs. Courtney and Doug stating their support.

I can't imagine any parent being ok with that, but especially a dad. My dad would have flipped the eff out if I brought home a 52 year old guy when I was 17. And my husband would die before he let our 17 year old daughter marry a 52 year old.

Interestingly though, when they showed an image of Doug and Courtney with her parents in the intro segment in the first episode, the Dad's face was blurred out. Could be that he just doesn't want to be shown on tv, but it kind of makes me wonder if the dad really is ok with it.
