I'm guessing they don't show it in Australia. Eurovision is so much fun!
It reminds me of GilliC. Where is she in this conversation?!
It will be shown on SBS, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I'm not sure of the times, but you can check it out at the website.
Edited to add: the broadcast is delayed, so you'll have to stay away from discussions/internet sites that may leak the results if you want to wait to find out until it's aired here.
I'm psyched but I won't be watching it. I'll actually be in London by the end of the week but will be too busy to tune in. I am making myself watch all of the online video entries in advance though. I'm only about halfway through now. So far I like most of them but I have to say, "Please no Jedward." Also, the one from Albania is probably a lovely person but she gives a whole new definition to the term ear-splitting.
My personal faves so far: Belgium, Iceland, Finland, Switzerland and maybe Hungary but then I've only watched half of them yet.
It is ridiculous, which is why I love it. 1st semis tonight!
In the past, I've watched all the songs on eurovision.tv beforehand, but this year I've decided to fly blind. I saw the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, so I know the Danish entry, and I saw the Russian when someone linked me to YouTube without telling me what it was, but otherwise I don't know what I'm in for. We'll see how this goes! I'm used to having a favorite already picked!
Last year, they aired in Australia significantly later than in Europe… like weeks later iirc. I had a tab on twitter open for #esc2011 and all of a sudden it was being flooded again with people who didn't know who had already won and I was like WTF?

Hehe, yeah, I just think that Eurovision is funny, tasteless but funny. Having watched most of the videos, I'm happy with whoever wins. Having watched most of the videos now, I quite like Macedonia's song but really aside from a few of them (cough, cough Austria), I'm happy for whoever wins.
Haha Austria was pretty bad too. Out of the ones that made it on to the finals, I'm most surprised by Cyprus, which was just all around meh, and Albania, the heartfelt Star Trekish opera that seemed to be about… chai. I look forward to Thursday night!

You mean a song that sounds like they are singing fuck em in the poo poo. ;D I know that's not what they are actually saying but when I first played the song that's what I got from it.

I understood it was just delayed by 12 or so hours last year here in Australia. It certainly wasn't weeks later. Maybe it was a repeat.
It will be delayed again this year, but by hours, not days or weeks. The presenter here is reporting live on the nightly news.

We didn't see many of the acts but did catch the Austrian one and thought that this was what they said too!!! And what was with the Russians and their oven?? We were just "happy" that Jedward made it through to the final again!
I hate you all! I'm stuck on a stupid boat!!!! I asked the Swedish entertainment staff if it would be shown anywhere, and they said reception was probably going to suck but they wanted to try to do something for the final. Screw the final!!! I love me some semi-final disaster performances! And it sounds like there were lots of WTF contenders this year!
I can't handle Eurovision. It's so political, not talent based and drives me nuts. I felt the same with when they tried the infamous World Idol bit. I just listen to the songs online if they seem interesting.
I'm so glad it's not talent-based! Then it would just be another Idol show. Instead, it's a kiss-of-deth-for-your-career train-wreck disaster fest! Full of cheese and ridiculousness!
The UK keeps trying to win, and they always suck. If everyone tried to win, it stands to reason that they'd all suck! The best acts are the ones taking the piss out of the whole thing. ...or the ones where you're not sure if they're taking he piss or if they really are that bad!
Like all great games, the fun isn't in the winning. It's in playing the game!
I wouldn't call Greece a WTF, but maybe I'm just used to them by now. It seems they recycle the same two songs over and over. Their last 'hot girl shakes her butt' entry did well, too.

I have nothing against the whole "let's put a hot girl in heels and have her stick her booty out as much as possible" strategy, but I think Romania did it better. Their song is a higher quality. "Boyfriend shots" are like a universal archetype of phone-in talent shows, so yeah there's nothing wrong with that.
But rhyming "maniac" and "aphrodisiac" over and over? I need the Greek word for "sheesh". To be fair, I'll cut Greece some slack for having bigger problems right now than choosing a Eurovision act.
