I hit up a few yard sales on Saturday and was getting really discouraged (there was a lot of people selling girly baby stuff, but not so much boyish). After a couple of hours, I had decided to give up, and was trying to find my way back to Bruce B Downs when I saw a house that had a pack and play and other assorted baby stuff in their front yard so I decided I'd check it out. I ended up scoring a gender neutral PNP, that they said their daughter only slept in twice, that had a vibrating bassinet, and changer for $25 and they said because I bought that they'd sell me the Baby Einstein jumper (that also looks like it hasn't been used) for another $15. When I got home I looked the items up on Amazon.com and the PNP was listed at $189 and the jumper $89 - so I feel like I scored big for $40.
We also went to register, and although I had done preliminary research, and had a good idea what I wanted, my husband got scan gun happy. If it had a baseball or football on it, he scanned it - including some bedding that I'm not a fan of.
My "favorite" thing he scanned, but for some reason it actually didn't show up on the registry, was a spa bathtub. Huh? He told me his son NEEDED to be able to take jetting bubble baths. What?!? Not only do I think it's ridiculous overkill, but it was huge, and would be a giant PITA to rinse out, nevermind store. He told me we needed to add it on, but I might conveniently forget.
Not much new with us. Ethan hit 4 weeks on Friday (can't believe a month has gone by, although with the sleep deprivation it kind of feels like it's been forever!) and we are trudging along. I think I may venture to a neighborhood play group on Wednesday. Wednesday night I plan to head out to meet my book club at Stonechase (yummy restaurant!) and leave dad and baby home for a couple of hours.
We don't go back to the pedi until 10/25. I assume he might be getting shots or something at that visit as he will be 6 weeks. I have my check up with the OB on 10/29. Basically we are just taking it day by day and I hope to soon be able to try and get him on some sort of sleeping/feeding schedule. Right now when people ask about coming to visit, I just tell them that they are welcome to come over, but I have no idea whether he will be awake or asleep!
This weekend we are leaving him with my parents for one night. They are going to come stay at our house. We have a wedding to go to in Boca Raton and we have decided against taking Ethan with us (my mom would go with to stay with him while we attend the wedding). I don't want to have him get mad in the car when it's such a long drive. So we will go down and back for one night and he will stay in Tampa with grandma and grandpa. I REALLY hope he is good for them. Please bless me with an angel of a baby this weekend!

Everything is good here. I hit my 27 week mark on Thursday and on Friday had my appt. I lost a pound!! I'm still down 6lbs!!! Can't believe it! Baby boy sounded great and has been so active lately. I bought a snoogle over the weekend at a garage sale for $15 and slept so good last night with no backache this morning ;D

I'm feeling about the same lately, lots of nausea, pregnancy insomnia and just a little bit of my never ending cold, which finally seems to be going away after a month. My first prenatal visit is tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to. I'm going to the same practice that I used the other two times. In the past unless you were high risk, you only got the 20 week ultrasound, but now they offer an optional mini ultrasound at your first visit.
A week and a half past weaning, Maisy has quit waking up for the day at 4:30, thank goodness and is actually waking up even later than when she was still nursing! Also nap time without nursing is going great. I thought it was going to be rough for a while, but within a few days, it was no big deal.
This morning, Beckett's school had a field trip. When he was in the 2 & 3 year old classrooms, parents had to bring their child's car seat, but for 4 year olds, it's up to the parents if they want them to be in a car seat or booster. Beckett is under 40 lbs and still in a 5 point harness car seat, so there is no way I'd let him go without, but I was really surprised how few parents left anything, even a booster. One day in the parking lot, another kid made fun of Beckett for still being in a car seat (to which the kid's dad said nothing), so I'm hoping none of the kids tease him for being one of three or four kids properly restrained. Maybe I'm alone in my thinking, but I feel a four year belongs in a booster seat at least.
jen812, I would like to request video of that, please!
Tasha, I have only been around sporadically, and seem to have missed your announcement! How fantastic, congrats!!!
Sara, US TOO. Ugh...
Ellie has been sick for the past week so we've been keeping a low profile. It has pretty much been the saddest thing ever, and it has totally messed up all the progress we had made towards gettign her to take good naps in her crib. Aside from that, I think she really wants to crawl but isn't quite there yet and it's pissing her off. She'll lean forward on her hands from a sitting position and then try to get up on her knees, but they just sort of slide out from under her and she face plants and cries. So, I sit her back up and get her happy again and the immediately does the whole thing over again. It's big fun.
She's killing it with solid food though. We've tried oatmeal, sweet potatoes, avocado, green beans and squash so far. She hated the avocado but loves everything else.
Jen - Enjoy it and I hope it stays like that. Mia was that way at first and then she decided she hates baby food, all flavors, all cereals...forget it. The faces she makes are so sad but so funny all at the same time. I just keep trying every week or so. I'm definitely going to video my next attempt!
Aegis - Congrats on the good finds! If you guys are compromisers, I'd let him keep the bath tub and deep six the bedding you don't like.
May07 - I LOVED my Snoogle, it was wonderful to actually be able to find a comfy position and get some sleep!
Tasha - Yay for Maisy sleeping! I will definitely be keeping Mia in a booster for a while when she is bigger. Shame on that parent for not saying something to their child.
Mia seems to finally be past the last round of sickies, thank goodness. Still not wanting to eat her solids but tries to take our food when we are eating and holding her. My sister told me to give her the teether biscuits since she has two teeth, but I just feel like she should be older, she's 5 months...am I being crazy?
Mrsmew, I wish I could get it on video. It's a 3 ring circus trying to keep his hands out of his mouth, making sure the dogs don't lick his hands, keeping the cereal raspberries at bay... But I'll see what I can do.

I was prepared today to tape it, but unfortunately, dinner time was serious business today. Sorry.
