I ran my first half 13 days ago. With travel and tons of things going on, I haven't run (or done anything for that matter) since. I wanted to give myself a week off because I felt so burnt out towards the end of half training but now it turned into 2 weeks. I vow to get back out there tomorrow morning and run, but I know I will be sooooo discouraged if I have to start from scratch and am slower than molasses out there after I did so well increasing my speed during half training.
Tell me it won't suck. Or tell me that it will suck but that I'll get over it and get back into the swing of things with regular running very soon.
Thanks! That was me being my usual overdramatic self. I know I'll be fine at some point, I just need validation from others who have gone through the same thing.
You'll be fine. The first couple miles will probably be the roughest, but you should get into a groove after that. The worst part of your day tomorrow will be when the Rangers lose. Sorry.
Thanks everyone! I really hope I don't feel the same kind of burnout for marathon training but I know that if I felt that way training for a half, why wouldn't that happen while training for a full?
You're not going to die tomorrow. It might suck. Okay, it's probably going to suck. But you'll survive. Just think about all the yummy food and drink you'll have this fall when you guys come to Cinci for the Bengals/Giants game
Speaking of which...I think I have a tailgate spot for us. I'll keep you posted!

i dont think there's any guarantee that you wont....just listen to your body and keep your eye on the prize. you'll get through it.
but then again, i loved marathon training. im more comfortable when im training for something than when im not. but i'm very weird like that
One of J's coworkers has Bengals season tickets and they use the same tailgate spot every year-she told us last week that we (and any friends with us) are welcome whenever we make it down there. So assuming she doesn't prove to be a super crazy nutball between now and November we're golden...and if she does we'll find another spot
