On your blog I noticed you have an alpha mat. I am thinking about getting one of those because we just have wood/tile in our house, which one did you get? Are you glad you got it?
Yes! We love it. Granted our apartment is tiny and that's really the only place she can play anyway, but we have hard floors too and I was constantly worried she would tip over and smack her head. Now if she falls over it doesn't phase her, plus I feel like she gets more traction on the mat now that she's trying to mobilize than she would have on just the floor or blankets on the floor.
I tried to find the exact one online but I couldn't, and I don't remember the brand, but we got ours at Babies 'R Us for about $18. Definitely worth it.
ETA: I am about to throw mine out the window. L thinks its great to rip it up and chew on the pieces. I spend at least an hr a day fixing that thing.
When Beckett was little we had some in his play area, and he never bothered them. But the ones I bought for Maisy, the kids would not leave alone- tearing the pieces apart, carrying them all over the house. It made me nuts, so I gave them away.
Yeah, I will say that Ellie has recently figured out that she can pull the end pieces off and chew on them. That means she spends a lot of time heading to the edges of the mat to grab them, thus making me nervous she's still going to face plant onto the hard floor. But for now it is still better than any other options, for sure!

I wish someone would make the alphabet mats in solid pieces. Lila thinks its a game to pull the tiny filler pieces out.
Pfft, I just ordered one yesterday. A work friend of H's gave us a gift card to get something for Mia so that's what I got. Oh well, it was "found" money anyway, right?!
