Moms who toughed it out.... How?? I am so sore that I made her a bottle tonight to give myself a break but she won't take it from me. She just wants to chew on my nipple. If it doesn't get better (I don't stop hurting) I want to be done:(. Encourage me please.

I hope it gets easier! I am so thankful that L didn't get her first tooth until after her 1st birthday. I wish I could offer some help but I didn't have to deal with it

My sister told me that the first time that her son bit down she screamed so loud that it scared the crap out of him. Not on purpose, but he never did it again.

I would lightly flick his cheek. When that didn't get his attention I would unlatch him and make him go play or divert his attention. He often screamed but learned rather quickly he couldn't bite if he wanted to keep eating.
If you need to give her a bottle let her hold it herself and leave the room. If she is hungry enough she will take it.

You make that sound so easy. If I gave her a bottle and walked out of the room she would flip her lid! She nurses before bed. We've never done it any other way. I'll try but I am feeling like it's not going to be a win for me. Hopefully this is just a phase. I remember going through this a couple months ago and it just got better. Sigh. My poor lady bits.

At around the age that Amelia is Maisy's latch started becoming uncomfortable. It wasn't that she was actually biting down me, but she just got lazy and was latching on with her teeth and kinda hanging on to the boob with them. I would keep taking her off, and have her relatch until she did it comfortably. It got better, she quit doing it and I kept nursing for another nine month or so. Beckett only ever started to bite down once, maybe twice, and as babybeachbum suggested, I gave a very light flick on his cheek, which worked effectively and he didn't do it anymore.

Moon, pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain! Puppies and rainbows all the way
Tasha that's exactly it - you just described how she's latching recently. I don't think she's trying to bite me or hurt me, it's just the overall latch we've got going on right now. I wonder if it has to do with her getting used to the teeth in her mouth. But I think we just need to go back to the basics. For now when it starts to hurt I will take her off and not let her back on until she's ready to do it right:)
She woke up last night for the first time in a long time. I nursed her and got her back to sleep, but the second I put her back down screaming ensued and I couldn't do the nurse to sleep again. I woke Brian up and he tried to give her a bottle but I guess she's at the age where she only wants MEEEE! So I let her play for about an hour then tried to give her the bottle myself but she didn't want it so I put her in her crib with it anyway and sure enough she flipped her lid. I left her there and she was asleep in under 10. Only thing is she didn't drink the bottle until the morning and it had been in her crib for 6 hours. Now she's on diarrhea watch. Lol.
So it dawned on me when I was washing my white shorts the other day that there is nothing wrong with A's latch. It was my period duh! Now that it's here my bits feel just fine again, and now that I think about it it was right around that time last time that they were sore. Huh.

Zoe did the same thing as Maisy and I did the same thing Tasha did. It was like they have to relearn how to latch with teeth!
I'm thinking that it was a combo of I was just sensitive and maybe my supply was a little low right before so maybe she was working a little extra hard. I'll know why if it happens again in about a month.
