Last year, we got one. An infant with his parents. I'm in a community that's building fast, and I've seen a lot of kids recently so I'm expecting more, but have no idea how many ...

We have in years past. Our neighborhood has lots of kids. But they seem to always come later in the evening than I expect, and I get worried that we are going to get stuck with a bunch of candy and end up giving it away in large handfuls. Last year we ran out and before we could turn off the light, a giant group of kids came to the door. We felt bad, so we had to give them dollar bills. This year I won't make that mistake- I'd rather have some leftover Twix bars and keep my cash.
We get maybe 7, if we're lucky. We're at the end of a long cul-de-sac. I guess they're too lazy to walk to our house. I always see lots more kids at the beginning of the street.
This year we're bringing D TorT at a few relatives houses. I guess we'll miss them.
TONS. If I had to count, I would say at least 100, probably more. I don't know where they come from, but not really my neighborhood because we don't have that many kids. (Except the house with 5 kids.)
I don't know if it's because my neighborhood has a spooky look to it?
Somehow I've managed to recruit a group of 25 people for trick-or- treating tonight (that includes the adults, though). I don't know how that happened, and my house is a disaster. :/

We get hundreds... it is crazy how our street is just filled with children and parents. It is fun though... all the neighbors sit outside the house and pass out candy. Some have little fire pits so the kids can warm up. Our city has t-n-ting from 6-8 pm!
We handed out candy once and we got maybe 30 kids before it got dark and the kids started getting much older and were mostly not even in costume, and we turned out our lights and ate the rest of the candy. We've worked or been out every year since. When A is older if we trick or treat we probably do our street and then go to a different neighborhood. A lot of old people live around here and I don't think there are very many lights on.

Last year was our biggest year ever where we opened the door.....10 times. It's sad that that was a large amount for us! We'll see how it is tonight. When I was a kid, I remember how the streets would be teeming (is that a word?) with trick or treaters and nowadays seems like not as many kids do it or are allowed to or something? Depressing.

We have an intern at work from France. He said for about the last 10 years or so, they stopped celebrating Halloween/trick or treating.
I thought that was strange & asked how they just stop celebrating a holiday. He didn't really have an answer.
Geesh - we went from 1 infant trick or treater last year to about 30 kids this year. With the rate they're putting up houses in my neighborhood, I'm betting we'll have at least twice that next year.
Jen, that's interesting! They probably only started celebrating Halloween recently and then it died out because it was too American. Who knows.
So last night we opened the door only 5 times, and had a total of about 12 kids in all. We turned all the porch lights out by 9. Apparently the other subdivisions within my neighborhood were extremely busy but mine isn't popular.

I asked him about it again & he guessed because it was getting too commercialized. Sometimes he messes up his words in English though, so I'm not sure if that's what he meant.

We got hundreds, yes hundreds! We live off bloomingdale, close to 301 and all the kids from claire Mel/progress village come over on this side of 301. We bought 5 large bags, then my mom came over, cause she doesn't get any, and she brought 3 bags, and so did my Aunt. It's crazy, and we LOVE it!! We decorate/dress up and scare all the kids.
